American Graffiti
On Route 66 there are some places where graffiti is allowed.
Remember to bring Spray Paint and have a ball.
Cadillac Ranch and Slug Bug Ranch
The Cadillac Ranch, located in a pasture west of Amarillo Texas
was built in 1974 by Stanley Marsh III.
You’ll find 10 graffiti spattered Cadillacs ranging in age from 1949-1963.Slug Bug Ranch is a quirky version of Cadillac Ranch.

Sorry some graffiti is pretty but that’s not D:
And even so it’s still prob pretty fun to do
lol
I admire graffiti artists. Some of them are very talented and some graffiti is very beautiful!
I would like to drive what is left of Route 66 someday. Unfortunately, my husband is not receptive to the idea of road trips anymore.
Will anyone here admit to putting the Xanga graffiti there! Was it you Beth!!!?
great graffiti…I wonder if people still punch each other when they see a slug bug
i want to know that too- DID you do the xanga? i think this sounds like fun.
@mlbncsga - we do in my car. no give backs. (and there are two bugs that park on our street)
That’s cool!
@RushmoreJ – yes it was me
cool
That is really cool! And I love your new layout!
@promisesunshine - why didn’t I know about no give backs
my arm is black and blue – geesh
@mlbncsga - unfortunately i’m always on the receiving end of “no givebacks” and those girls hit hard.
love the Xanga Bug! That would’ve been fun.
I bet the kids (and you!) had fun there! LOVE the Xanga bus – kind of a cross between Xanga and the Grateful Dead, lol.
Kathi
That looks like a blast. It’s going on one of my vacation spots that the kids will whine about but secretly love.
Driving 66 is on my bucket list, hehe. xanga forever! I will look for the sign when i visit. Hope you have recorded the GPS location of the xanga sign,
I lived 2 hours away from Amarillo my whole life & never heard of this place. That’s so cool!
I like abstract art. lol
I see it on trains all of the time.
Some do a nice job like an artists.
lover your examples here.
The thing about graffiti is, that you have to get familiar with the cans to be any good at it. So you have to do it where it’s illegal, and therefore, the places where it’s legal to do so are going to be really ugly.
OK, That is cool. I like it!
Love this and gotta go there:):)
Graffiti can be mural like and that is quite an art form. Los Angeles has a lot of long murals and recently they stopped all the graffiti along the LA River.
Down near Salton Sea is a place with an artist with a lot of paint. That is quite a sight to see also.
Been by Caddilac Ranch several times. I stopped once and looked. Kind of like the place with the Giant Dinosaurs….. places along the roads I’ve traveled, things I’ve seen, sadly and yet not surprisingly they have changed with time. The first time I saw the Caddilacs they still looked like cars, now with tires rotted, and graffitti covering them they remind me of an acid trip I was on once, or maybe twice. Though I suppose the paint in it’s way preserves them from som rusting, and prolongs their “lives”….. something good coming from something sadly wrong…. life as it is.
I miss you. (already)
@Music_turned_Human - Miss you too!
miss you, three!
I love this
Neat! Do you have to pay for the paint or is it included in the admission price to the place?
The xanga one was funny! After seeing what you can do with a dill pickle, I DO believe it was you!
Ha, awesome.
Dear Beth,
I believe I just read that you were about to celebrate a benchmark milestone birthday celebration.
Happy birthday and many happy returns of the day.
Also, don’t think I commented here but I saw this post the other day, and again, hope that someday I can travel cross country on 66. The convertible is gone, but next year I hit the big 6-0, my leg/hip is completely healed and I’ve been looking at Harley ads on the internet…..
