Joining the YMCA
A few yrs ago I got a wii to workout and I like it,
it is a good workout, I love the boxing!
I box with my nephew and he kicks my arse, he is 7!
He comes every Thursday night after school to kick my butt,it makes his week!
I walk and bike and live on the second floor of an old farmhouse,
I do physical work in the greenhouse too,
so I get plenty of exercise.
We eat right and I drink lotsa water
I am strong, I am not "fit"
but I can hike up steep hills and walk/bike for miles
A few yrs ago I lost 70 lbs, gained a few and lost it again
I get to 250/size18 and there is where I hover,
my goal is a size 12 and maybe 170 lbs.
I will never be a size 4, I am not built like that,
I was a women's size 10 in 6th grade before I was even fat.
I have always had Fred Flintstone feet and wide hands.
People have kindly call them "man hands" for lack of a more delicate term.
Once I made a teeny sailboat less than 1/4 of an inch high
and the lady I gave it too said in great surprise
"How did you make this tiny boat with those big fingers?"
Ha
Because I have phenomenal dexterity!I saw that the local Y has a Boxinglates class along with
water aerobics and a number of other classes.
So I decided to join.
So me and my man hands are going to be working out at the local "Y".

Congrats. Should be good for ya.
I'm jealous, water aerobics sounds so fun
I have tiny hands, but am about as coordinated and graceful as a charging rhinoceros
I envy you!
Boxing is a load of fun. David and I still spar with each other sometimes.
I am like you. I can walk/hike for miles, but my abs don't look like a washboard. I have about 30 pounds to lose until I am at my goal.
@chicbananas - A friend of mine saw your pic in my facebook comments and said to tell you for him that you are bodacious and absolutely beautiful!
@seedsower - Awe!
You can tell him I said thank you.
Oh! It is good you said arse instead of ass! I don't like kicked!
fantastic! I am with you...except I have small hands and wrists so I cannot plead "big bones" to excuse my weight!
My dad had strong hands with square fingers, twice as thick as mine (I take after my mom, who had long cellist fingers). When we visited his aunt and uncle in Germany, his hands looked small in comparison with Tante Hilda's! She had huge dairy farmer's hands, and Uncle Reinhold and Cousin Reinhard's hands were even bigger.
sounds like you might have found your niche workout! hope you really like it!
Being an M/A instructor I can certainly understand. Glad you're doing well.
Good for you lady! I took water aerobics when I was pregnant with Elita.
I have to see what shape our one speed bikes are in when it gets a little warmer. We may give them away and get at least a 3-speed this summer, if money is there for it. Going to Zumba classes now and I love that I can afford it now! Larry and Elita talk about my ugly big toes but hey, that is what God gave me!I have big hands too for a woman but they have served me well in a lot of jobs over these years, since I was 14 and am now 60. Go by how your clothes fit and not so much the scale. Remember, muscle weighs more than fat. :)
I think we're twin sisters from different mothers...only I don't have a greenhouse - yet
@mlbncsga - I <3 you!
@seedsower - I <3 you more
My dad would have loved you...he was a boxing trainer and manager at one time!
@dingdongdingbat - I am soooooooooooooo Josie!
I think we might be twins! Good for you joining the Y. You can do it!!!!
I need to exercise... what is boxinglates? It sounds dangerous. I tried water aerobics but they went into the deep water and I was nearly drowned when they started splashing with those milk jugs! eeek!
That's awesome!
I too get my butt kicked by a 5-year-old kid
I used to be a little skinny thing before I had Loreli... but health and fitness wise.. I could run my old self in circles... Weight plays such a small part in health. I think you're going to love the class.. I'll let you know how my own experience goes with it next week
Boxinglates will be fun and you will find other fun classes to do. I love the Y and you will, too!
Figuratively speaking, in life, we can only "play the cards we were dealt" My parents and grandparents were all short, and chubby. What chance did I have?
I think you have more energy than a lot of thin people, and are more fit than many who can't see past a few softly rounded parts. I would really like to see your nephew whip your butt at boxing!
This past year, I was very sick, and I managed to lose 42 pounds. Mostly because almost everything I ate made me sick. Now, with the nasty gall bladder finally out, I am trying to hang on to that weight loss. I am still chubby, just a little LESS chubby! I went from a size 18 to a 12/14. I am happy with that, and hopeful I can stay at this weight, since I gave all my bigger clothes away. I doubt I would have been able to lose the weight without being sick. Sad that I have so little discipline, but partly, it is just that it is not an issue with me. I am the same person now as I was then.
Yes Wii can!
@sometimestheycomebackanyway - I love that comment!
I don't think that you would ever hurt anyone if you took up boxing but for sure you can now do some impressive moves to scare folks.
I would love to teach you some martial arts. Some of the moves are so slick and you could learn them pretty quickly. I would only teach someone with such a good heart as yours.
