  • honestly....This just breaks my heart.

  • Those last three are absolutely lovely.

  • I wish I could frame some of these and hang them in my house. You have such a good eye for this. I'm envious.

  • @Da__Vinci -  You have my permission, but if you do, message me your email and I will send you the for the larger files for better quality.

  • I love the 3rd one and the last one! I would frame them too!

  • I love the last three aswell, I would frame them aswell.

  • I really love the colors. The last especially. I love how you are capturing this.

  • The colors are soo vibrant.  The red on that door is wonderful like my favorite color red red.  (I hope that sentence made sense) :0)

  • Beautiful photos of a sad event... The wallpaper scraps on the grass is a heartbreaker.

  • That's sad.  We once lived in an old farmhouse near Gettysburg, PA.  It was built in 1803.  It's now a historical landmark, so it probably will not be destroyed.

  • I like the one where you can see the steps through the door.

  • Oh my! I remember that linoleum! And the wall paper! We bought an old house in the 70's and lived in it for 30 plus years. Each time we remodeled we found these wonderful old wall paper patterns. I would daydream of those olden days the house had been built in.

  • Beth I have been giving my Nikon a workout, its such a joy to see such lovely photos come in from this workhorse!

  • I thought that was a cut out pattern someone had been in the middle of~ still left in the house.  The close-up revealed it was wall paper.  Is that what I'm seeing?   Thank you for preserving this place in photos.

  • How sad to see it come down but oh what wonderful memories you have.

  • Beautiful!  Males me homesick.  I grew up in an old farm hoiuse.

  • That is real linoleum laying out in the yard, not vinyl.  I don't think they even make linoleum in the US any more.  Funny that stuff I remember as a kid is now old stuff.

In the 1930s, my grandfather and uncles salvaged bricks from a demolished church he used to build a new house.  They are still fine looking bricks.

  • @GoodGuyTheBoss - I think my aunt had that linoleum in her 1913 house.  It looks familiar to me too.

  • so glad you captured this and preserved it ... so many of these will be gone and forgotten ... the people, their lives, and memories from these houses ... gone.

  • @Ricardo98 - What amazes me is that it still looked so good! Old linoleum will last and last,I tell people I would never replace it in a home if it wasn't worn,it will outlast the new stuff by decades.

  • It's a shame they're tearing down the house.  It looked lovely.  I hope they send the materials somewhere to be reused.

  • gorgeous photos!

  • I hate seeing old homes being torn down.  I know that some of them are so dangerous, but some are in great shape and just need a major rehab!!  I always wish I knew someone who did that so they could take things such as the old doors and marble and all that......and let me have it!  LOL

Did or are they tearing down those barns too? The ones in the previous posts??  They look like they are in good shape!

There are probably so many memories there.  It's hard NOT to imagine what it was like when it was in tip top shape, back in the day.  It makes me sad.

  • @JeezolPeats -  I saw a company there that took out the salvageable items. So far the out buildings are still there.

  • Marvelous photos of a wonderful old house -- sad that it had to come down.  I particularly love the shot of the stairway through the door, the one before it (bricks through the window with the wallpaper in the corner), and the two after it.  A great post!

  • too bad you couldn't get your hands on those stars.. I am so fascinated by them when I'm out there, I notice them all the time..

  • How old do you think the linolium and wallpaper is?

  • Love your background.  Are you going to salvage anything from the house?

  • @BooksForMe - There is a company doing that and it is all roped of,I climbed under the rope to get pix.

  • @Carolina_Is_In_My_Mind - 1930-1940 would be y guess.

  • More wonderful photos . . . I'm glad it will be remembered . . . .

  • tearing up.

    these pictures are b e a utiful!

  • if walls could talk they would say "photograph me!"

  • Do they anyone/company  to claim the doors/windows/hardware?  It is would be such a waste to trash them. I really love the pics from the red door and beyound..Beautiful and sad.

  • nice, beth.  the third from the bottom, of the iron ... window latch? ... I really like that shot, and the last one, too.

  • You have the BEST playground for photos, WOW!

  •  Wonderful snaps but so sad to see them go down.

  • Why is it when you take pictures of crap they look like art, but when I do it they just look like crap, LOL.

  • WOW!  I haven't seen wallpaper like that for............  a long time!  Great pics Beth

  • Beth, you make sad look so beautiful.  Your eye for photo taking is amazing!

  • That small rosebud print wallpaper looks very similar to what I had in my bedroom in one house we lived in when I was a kid. I loved that room. The seventh pic here is my favorite - the stairs through the barn door.

  • The last one is my favorite, Beth.  This is a very special group.

  • These are too sad for me!  But that last one with all the colors in it and the star on the wall is beautiful.

  • It makes me sad that this nation seems to be a tear down and rebuild society.  I wish we could build right the first time as many of the older constructions are, and maintain them to last instead of wasting resources and our heritage.  Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures.

  • I'd be tempted to pick up pieces of the old wallpaper, or to ask about taking some of the metal hardware/door/window latches, especially those decorative stars...

The wallpaper is so vibrant, it seems to be "speaking" of who used to live there...

  • Oh so sad...  My Gram had that linoleum! I remember being very sleepy and pretty young and looking at that pattern following the pattern with my eyes like it was a road while the adults were talking...insisting that I wasn't tired cuz I didn't want to miss the "good stuff". A great aunt earlier had said that was why I was fighting sleep. I was too young to know what the good stuff was but I still didn't want to miss it, ha.
