Behind the Gate
It makes you want to know what is on the other side... a mystery.
That was the fun part of the pic, taking a gate in the middle of nowhere
and making it appear to be somewhere.
Maybe guarding a cemetery, mansion or insane asylum.
I guess there used to be a road ,now it is just woods, and an overgrown path.
The name on the post is "Ressonia Lodge".
I would love to know the history here.

What Do You See in Photos?
What do you see in this photo?
Do you see what caught my eye,
the story of the scene, the past or present?
Do you see what made me stop to take this photo?
It was the light on the corn,it looked golden.
Can you envision the hard work, blood, sweat and tears it took to clear the land
and build a farm?
Plowing, sowing, reaping and offering prayers of petition and thanksgiving.
What do you see in these photos?

What Xanga Means to Me,This Post is for You (Edit)
I tagged all my friends, this is for you.
Buddly47, Katers, Momgonemadd, WildWomanoftheWest, my Xanga mom Dingdongdingbat, Swamprad, AliasUndercover,
Old Hat, Casmarie, CallMeQuell, xthread, John, UnworthyofHisgrace, DanishDoll, Beli_grrl,
Bricker, MooncatBlue, Blue_summer and others have all encouraged me in messages
and many many others in comments and prayers.
Over the years you've upheld me when I was low, and let me be there for you at times too.
You've made me laugh and cry, shared your stories, beliefs, thoughts,
lives, time and friendship, joys and sorrows.
Someone is ALWAYS here!!
Even in the wee hours of the morn if I need to talk
I can pulse and someone will respond.
Another thing you have done is taught me about different ways of life,
exposed me to other theologies, lifestyles and cultures.
I have met, come to know and love some people very different from myself...
including Muslims, trannies, Wiccans and athiests.
For the encouragement and love, many comments, kind thoughts, prayers,
recommendations, messages, friends requests and subscriptions,
for reading my blog and allowing me in to your life...
I sincerely offer my gratitude and say Thank You.

Harvesting Black Walnuts
We went to visit my mom's Uncle Arthur who is 93,
we found him in his workshop shelling Black Walnuts.
He works from the time he gets up until he goes to bed.
I enjoyed seeing how they are harvested.
Older Black Walnuts on the ground
Gathered Black Walnuts
As a black walnut fruit ripens, the husk changes from solid green
to yellowish green to dark brown.

Soaking them to get the outer shell/husk/hull soft
If the nuts are stored with husks attached,
the heat released as the husks decompose will discolor walnut kernels and ruin their flavor.
Husked/dehulled ,the outer shell removed

These are all husked waiting to be cracked.
Cracking the walnuts

The walnuts stain his fingers
Thanks to my Uncle Jim for this pic
