Have a Blessed Christmas!
The traditional religious Christmas carol "What Child is This?"
was written in 1865 by William Chatterton Dix.
He wrote The Manger Throne,
while he was on bedrest, recovering from a serious illness.
Three verses of which became What Child Is This?
The hymn was put to the traditional English melody, "Greensleeves,"
and it remains that way today, nearly 150 years later.
"Greensleeves" is an old English ballad by an unknown composer.
What child is this, who, laid to restOn Mary's lap, is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing:
Haste, haste to bring him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!
So bring Him incense, gold, and myrrh,
Come peasant king to own Him,
The King of kings, salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.
Raise, raise the song on high,
The Virgin sings her lullaby:
Joy, joy, for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!

there are so many that I can remember what i was dealing with at the time so it's hard to pick just one; I'm not that person anymore like Alice in Wonderland said,
That's hard to do. I like them all. I guess Silent Night has to be my all-time favorite. Although, the night probably wasn't very silent in Bethlehem, though it may have been quiet out on the hills where the shepherds were. I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas is so funny, and it stays in your mind forever......at least it seems like forever. Hope you had a happy Christmas

One verse of What Child Is This never fails to bring tears to my eyes. It says, "Good Christians, fear. For sinners here the silent Word is pleading."
Silent Night -with guitar and candle light at midnight. As for more secular songs - Santa Baby is a favorite! Hope your Christmas was Merry and Bright and I'm pretty sure it is soon to be white!
