Pumpkins and Saintvi
Living in Hooterville like I do we can't get to the store
without driving for miles, sometimes we just use what we have.
I wanted a big pumpkin to cook ,
Dave said he had some little pumpkins left over in the greenhouse
and wondered if I could use them ,I thought "Why not?".
He brought them in but I could not cut them with a knife
so we sawed them in half.We cleaned out the seeds and toasted them, they are so good!
I clean and rinse the seeds, toss them with garlic powder, cayenne pepper,
soy sauce and chili powder and bake them on a greased cookie sheet/pan.My nephew comes on Tuesday
to help cook for Wednesday's Family DinnerWe boiled the pumpkins in the shell.
The shells stayed hard , so we scraped all the pulp out to use
for Pumpkin soup, pumpkin bars and pumpkin pies
and tomorrow night when it is Family Dinner Night
we will use the shells for soup bowls to serve the pumpkin soup in.For Halloween today I am @Saintvi
She toasted Pumpkin seeds too!

You guys are so funny! It's totally mixing me up with the different pictures. lol
Pumpkins are such a versatile fruit. Where I live now, trick-or-treating is banned
, so I don't carve a jack-o'lantern for my home. I will go instead to my friend's restaurant, where I can dole out treats to kids passing by on the patio.
My new motto for cooking is, "If it has to be opened with a saw, it's worth driving into town for canned puree."
That is clever! I make a pumkin soup, but would've never thought of using the pumkins as bowls! Now I want to try your seed recipe.....you don't give measurements.....I suppose we are to play it by ear, then?
wow you got a TON of seeds.
@Kellsbella - I use a lot of garlic and just dump the rest on til it looks right!
