Brilliant Orange Mushrooms
My Husband stopped to take a photo of something he HAD to show me,
he said I must see it!
It was the most brilliant ,orange mushrooms growing in a tree.He was right, I wanted to go see it and get some photos.
These edible mushrooms are called
Chicken of the Woods or Sulphur Shelf Mushrooms
(Laetiporus sulphureus, Laetiporus cincinnatus)My husband,Dave and our friend Dale went to check out the mushrooms.
The mushrooms were so vivid I could not stop taking pics.

So did you harvest some? Edible you say, but not for smoking? Joking… or am I?
I was hoping they were the ones the glowed at night Omphalotus olearius, I have never seen those on my voyages through the woods. These are cool, too. I am kind of sad that mushroom season seems to be ending where I live.
Mushrooms are so interesting. I’ve seen some like that around here, but I didn’t know they were edible. I would be afraid to eat them, unless an expert mushroomer ate them first…….and survived.
Those are vivid speicmens, just right for autumn, and you took some wonderful, creative shots of them too.
Calling them Chicken of the Woods, make them sounds edible, but with a name with the word Sulfur in them, I would think the opposite. Did you try them?
@Crystalinne - No, they were too pretty there to harvest!
mushrooms are just as beautiful as flowers!
Those are beautiful — such vivid colors!
You should have picked them, cut them, seasoned them and fried them like chicken fingers. Here are some recipes.
Wow, those are awesome!
Lovely shots as usual. I’m surprised because I’ve been told that there are no edible mushrooms that grow on wood. Maybe that’s just in my neck of the woods.
i love the pics. i have always been in awe of the person that sees plants or animals and tries to eat it for the first time. there is a reason why we know that some things are poisonous. it’s called death.
Wow! Those are beautiful! And they’re edible too?? I wonder what they taste like?
Probably NOT chicken. lol
That is amazing. In a way, they kinda look like flowers.
wow..very cool!
I wonder if they would’ve made an orange cream of mushroom soup. You need to throw some food porn my way. Go back and pick some shrooms!
those truly are vivid! i’m sure the smurfs would love to call them their home =)
Amazing color!

WOW! Never seen anything like that. Great shots!!
I don’t think I could eat them but I am not a mushroom fan either. Were they in more than one spot?
Very cool. Interesting mushrooms, never seen those before. Thanks for sharing.
