My Cannon Powershot A3300
was in a pail that got wet when we were on the beach,
it is no longer working, I would see about getting it fixed but
I wasn't all that impressed with the photos.
Then, on Monday while I was out shooting photos with my Nikon D90
I got an Err message that wont go away no matter what I try
so I need to take that to get fixed.
I would still be using the first digital camera that I bought in 2005
a Sony Cybershot DC3-P93
I really liked that camera and the photo quality
but it only had 5.1 megapixels
and when I bought the Cannon A3300
I gave it to my nephew as his first camera.
So today I used my birthday money to order a
Canon PowerShot SX260 HS
since I had all Cannon batteries and chargers etc.
The reviews on c/net were very good,
I hope I like this one for a quick pic.
I hope it gets here fast, it is fall and all I have for photos is my phone.
It's a Droid Incredible, has 8 Megapixels and takes great photos
but has crap zoom although I am sure there is an app I can get for that.
My favorite fall photo ever is this one of my nephew
Jack O' Lantern SmileWhat camera do you use and what are the Pros/Cons about it?

Honestly off the top of my head idk what it is exactly. I just know it's a Canon and Russ bought it for me he's so nice. Right now I have nothing special to take pictures of but I see my life really changing in the next 3 years so I will be using a it a lot more in the future.
And I love your close relationship with your niece and nephew.
i haven't taken picture from camera for quite some time now, except from my phone.. but that's because i tend to bring my handy cam with my to most places, and i can't bring both at the same time.. so I'm mostly video at the moment, and given that camera on the phone nowadays are quite decent, so it works for me for now..
Our camera is a Kodak. I haven't the faintest clue as to the make and model (it takes pictures!)
You're nephew brought my mind to that Linus scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiSIQzwIPzQ
I bought a Fujipix 8.1 MP point-and-shoot in 2008, but would like to upgrade. I like the idea of an SLR and I certainly want to be able to zoom past 3x1 or 5x1, but I love the convenience of a smaller camera, so I'm procrastinating on the decision.
Mine is a Samsung PL 120. It has produced the photos I've posted here, since last December.
I have an Olympus of some sort its basically a point n shoot plus (i can change all the settings!) I got a great deal on it at microcenter, but the macro focus is never what I want to be the focal point. I wish I had more manual control over it.
Hi Beth, I sort of understand your frustration. I only use my cheap cell phone for photos. My wife likes her fancy camera, but like me is using her cell phone most of the time.
Hope you and your nice family have a very good weekend,
frank
I use a Canon PowerShot SD790 Digital Elph. It's shirt pocket size but isn't too good in low light situations. Time for a "real" camera! Hope you have a fun day!
that is one wonderful photo, and smile. : )
I have a Kodak Play>full, it's waterproof to 3 meters...my husband has a great camera but when I go to use it the batteries are dead or the card is full or somethin....it's always somethin...
Have a Great Weekend Mornin Glorie!
I mostly use my phone camera (evo 4g lte) since it's always with me. Great for most pics but crappy in low light and the zoom tends to make the pictures noisy. I have a proper camera somewhere, a panasomic lumix dmc-fz7, but it's big and clunky and not convenient to tote around, although it was fantastic in college for sporting events. I would kill for a Leica M7 but if I had that much money laying around I would buy a car first.
ooh -- what hpappened to all those teeth?! Love my Pentax K100-D and a little Sony P/S from 8 years ago.
So Nikon is not reliable,
I have a little brownie from the 60's but I don't use it
I have an olympus I bought in 2001 but I dont use that much either. I sometimes use my iphone but the pics really suck bad
@angys_coco - it has been reliable so far.
we have the same phone!!!! the camera on it was the main reason i got that phone. but now it, the phone in general, is crapping out on me so i am looking at the samsung galaxy s III.
i think canon makes great point and shoot cameras and i have had several over the years. but not any now.
i have: pentax me 35 mm camera. (very old), a nikon d300s. wanted a pro type camera that i could afford. i have the battery pack so it is a heavy camera. i have a nikon p7000. it is a pro type point and shoot. since i want to shoot raw and already have the nikon software, i didnt want to learn new stuff if i continued to use canon point and shoot cameras. i get great macros with the p7000 and it is light and fairly versatile. it has some special effects built in and it is much like my d300s as the menus are about the same. it is a little glitchy with the focusing and the lens cover does not always open up completely.
@angys_coco - nikon is as reliable as any other maker. i just happen to like their dslr's more than any other maker. but, i like canon point and shoot cameras better than any others. lol go figure.
@buddy71 - I want the Samsung Galaxy S3 phone too once I get a new one. 8 megapixels in a phone is a must.
@seedsower - i am do for an upgrade now but have been holding off to see what other phones show up. i was also looking at the samsung note but only at&t is offering it and i would like to stick with verizon. also wanted to see if the new iphone would be worth it (it isnt, i feel)
Most of the pics I take are only used at web site resolutions... All the megapixels really don't help much with that... as you have demonstrated countless times - the really important thing is the eye you use to find a good photo!
I have a Sony Cybershot that's a few years old. It's a nice little camera.
I use a sony hand camit have a 60 optical zoomad 2000 other zoom it take picter and vido
I have a Sony Cybershot that my mother is currently in possession of...it's kind of messed because it's been dropped so many times and it got wet in the ocean a year and a half ago...but it's alright. I want a new one...
I have a Panasonic FZ20 that gets marvelous pictures and incredible zoom but doesn't always focus well. I always wanted a camera that I could carry around with me all the time and What do you Know??? The phone now is that! I have an iPhone that takes pretty decent pictures and I learned how to use the zoom the other day so it's even better than I ever hoped.
I have a cheapie Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS. It is a couple of years old but it is all the camera I can handle... I still haven't figured it all out! hehe! Hope your new camera is everything you hope for...
I love the photo of your nephew with the jack o latern smile. What a cutie.
I used a canon powershot for many years and when it and my old camera both died at the same time I got a canon rebel T3 600 with three lenses and I love it. It was confusing at first but now it is amazing and I am still learning but I love it.
This is a cool thread.
this makes me have camera envy. i have a nikon d60 and some sort of canon point and shoot. but i'm itching for a new camera because that's how i roll. unfortunately my husband would say "hell no".....hahahaha
Cute photo. In the last few months we've had two digital cameras stop working -- one is a few years old so I guess it is finished, the other was less than a year old so Best Buy had to give me money to buy another so I got a Nikon Coolpix and it's good.
Love the picture of your Nephew. Such a cutie.
i loved my nikon :0)
My camera broke (it was given to me by my work back in 2005)... so, um... can I have your D90 (I'll get it fixed)?
Interesting post as me, as many others are looking for a new camera. Canon is one of the best choices but witch one?
I am curious to see some of the photos taken with your new camera.
we have a sony powershot a495, which replaced our first digital camera from about ten years ago that i really miss, but could not see paying $60 for a new battery when i could get a whole new camera for just a bit more. current one just uses aa batteries and it has a lot more memory, too, so that is good. i miss the option of using the viewfinder instead of the display screen that the old one had, though.
haven't yet figured out how to take a photo with this new phone...new phones seem to be more than i can deal with right now
