Green Smoothies
I just bought a VitaMix Blender and it is amazing.
I do not like to eat in the morning
but I know I need something. For many years I drank a
Carnation Instant Breakfast Drink for breakfast,
I can't have a lot of sugar now so I had to change my breakfast drink.

Looks awesome. I like a whole-grain cereal and coffee.
I love kale in smoothies!! I just hate dirtying up the blender every morning
Here is a FB page of great smoothie recipes. http://www.facebook.com/IncredibleSmoothies
My breakfast is generally whatever is handy. When I have time, I have oatmeal with almonds and raisins. Yesterday I had what Cali was having--leftover sauteed chicken and green beans. As long as I get some protein, I'm not picky.
Looks like a savorous mixing!
My breafast ?: a bowl of milk ! for years !
Love
Michel
That looks amazing. I like making smoothies with frozen banana, yogurt, and coffee cubes, with just a touch of carmel sundae syrup - YUMMY! Or I do frozen fruit juice (100%) & banana.
The VitaMix kicks ass. If I see any awesome smoothie recipes I will send them your way!
There's a lady I work with who does the vitamix. I like to use whatever fruit I have around to make smoothies. Normally I wait until I've been up for an hour or so to eat. Then I only have about 200 calories (usually a bagel)
ideal? pumpkin pie and coffee. atypical cereal, typical much that I probably shouldn't
Mom says that in addition to the kale/spinach stuff, one can brew up a batch of rosehip tea to make with the exotic ...it also lessons the need for sweet inclusions. I haven't been home to make much use of my new gift too but I remember well making hummus with mom's...it's a hoot making tahini, the sesame ersion of peanut butter.
Uh Oh! A blender!
i hate eating breakfast. it's the most daunting task of the day other htan getting out of bed hahahaha. hopefully when i get shakeology that'll change. we'll see!
Sorry to confess I only have tea and toast. Later in the morning I have a snack, often cereal. I need to buy a new blender.
I've concluded that I do need some protein in the morning so I'm not starving by 10. So if it's cereal it's one with a decent amount of protein, usually Grape Nuts. Sometimes I'll have a small bowl of cottage cheese with berries and a bagel. Or a hard-boiled egg and toast.
my breakfast is usually lunch
I do green smoothies too. I usually just change up the fruit and add 1/4 cup isolated whey protein. Tangelo and peach is currently my favorite.
If I am in the mood for an instant breakfast sort of shake, I use Jillian Michael's chocolate whey protein, milk and ice.
I prefer my husband for breakfast.
Bagel with coffee would be my preference should I ever decide to eat breakfast or pancakes. Or oatmeal.
Hello Dear,
Nice Meeting You, i am miss Cordelia, i wish to have you as my friend when i came across your profile today , please get back to me at my private email (cordelia28atamba@yahoo.com) for more detail of my self, and i also promise to send my photo
Oatmeal.
Second: egg sandwich
Beth, you are going to be so healthy.
Last year, a friend bought me a Ninja - very similar to the Vitamix. She made us smoothies using mostly spinach and blueberries. I'm diabetic so I have to watch the sugar content, but these were very healthy
I think she filled the blender about 2/3 full of spinach packed in, then put about a cup of blueberries on top.
I love green smoothie! They're so good for you. I've tried a lot of recipes in the past, and my favorite I've landed on is kale, a bit of cilantro and parsley (for detox purposes), banana, frozen blueberries or strawberries, a bit of vegan protein powder, and almond milk. It comes out tasting sweet.
Does a bagel go with any of this?
My choice would be eggs, bacon and grits but not until I've been up for a while. I love smoothies for lunch and usually just use whatever I can find and toss it in the blender.
I'd like to try something like that, one day. So far, I haven't been brave enough, afraid I wouldn't like it. lol My breakfast of choice is cereal. I have to eat something, otherwise I'll get sick, but I'm too lazy to put so much work into it! cereal is easy! lol
That smoothie would be better if it included bacon.
coffee is usually my breakfast
unless I have the grandson then we do pancakes and sausage - I expect you to look like Lucy real soon with your Vitametavegamin machine
Well, that all sounds crazy.
Breakfast is, like, my favorite meal~ Eggs, pancakes, sausage, hash browns, fruit, milk, and other stuff. Sometimes I have cereal or a bagel, y'know, when I don't have time. (On the other hand, it might be that I'm not actually cooking all this that I enjoy it XD)
Guilty of being single! Peanut butter sandwich and coffee or a hot cup of Twining's English Breakfast tea, repeat as often as you awake. hehe
An omelet and a fruit plate is my preference, but I don't get up early enough to cook that, so it only happens when we go out on the weekends.
In real life, breakfast is whatever I grab out of the fridge on the way to work. Sometimes it's leftovers. Sometimes it's a package of guacamole and some fruit. Sometimes I pre-boil eggs. And sometimes, it's green smoothies. OhSheGlows.com and incrediblesmoothies.com have a lot of smoothie recipes. Oh yeah... sometimes, I just grab a package of gluten-free jerky at my office.
For breakfast, it is usually yogurt, fruit and some kind of high fiber-low sugar cereal, or oatmeal. On Sundays, I like going all out with things like omelets, bacon, pancakes and such. If have time to make breakfast other days, it'll be veggie scramble (sometimes served with toast, other times rolled up in a tortilla for a burrito.) Sometimes I will get a smoothie from Jamba Juice, and occasionally some junky fast food from a drive-thru place.
I love Green Smoothies but i killed my blender on whole Wheat grass. I need one of those!
smooties, yogurt and available ripe fruit. For a veggie drink, carrots, spinach, a little bit of parsley(use with care), granny smith apples and blend.
Good for you! We make smoothies every day, and it's usually one of three recipes. The very berry smoothie is plain greek yogurt, almond milk, strawberries, blueberries, banana, spinach, and ice cubes. The citrus smoothie is plain greek yogurt, almond milk, an orange, mango, pineapple, spinach, a banana, and ice cubes. The peanut butter/banana one is plain greek yogurt, almond milk, 2 bananas, spoonful of peanut butter, and ice cubes. Smoothies have been a lifesaver in feeding my picky-eater toddler. He loves, loves, loves them. I think we're all healthier since we started making smoothies 3 months ago. Now that summer is over I'm using a lot of frozen fruits.
@weedorwildflower - they all sound great thank you!
Sounds wonderful! I'm not a big breakfast person. I can't eat when I first wake up. By the time I do get around to "breakfast" noon or after, it's scrambled eggs & turkey bacon and something to drink. Either that or a bowl of cereal.
what's the different between the vitamix and a normal blender? is it a more powerful version? of the blade is different?
anyway, i have a juicer, but i rarely use it anymore, because i'm too lazy to keep up with the tedious washing process..
i just checked (because i'm interested to have one) and in this region, it cost more than 600 € ! holy cow!!
is it that expensive in the US?
@maniacsicko - It is just way more powerful, It was $500 with shipping but I burned out 4 blenders already in my 18 yrs of marriage and a few before that so I am hoping this will be the last one I ever buy!
I suppose my favorite breakfast is raspberries in cream of wheat when it is cold out. On hot summer days frozen berries in corn flakes or Life cereal.
I use a juicer sometimes too! Always need new juicing ideas. Thanks for the site!
banana nut cherrios and soy milk
the vita mix is fantastic! my aunt has one. she brought it a long the last time she visited and made us these amazing frosty smoothies with spaniach, lemonade juice concentrate, 1/2 an in tact lime, ice and dates for sweetening if i remember correctly. it was absolutely amazing. delicious! and the electric green color was so pretty. i definitely plan on investing in one some day.
@delication - Dates....what a great idea!
So often I forget about breakfast, which is not good, I know. I always have coffee! Three or four cups. When I remember, I have a bowl of cereal or some fruit. I wouldn't think you would need an energy booster, Beth! You have more energy than anyone I know!
Those are fantastic blenders! I skip breakfast....not a good plan!
Coffee and a cigarette gets me going every day!
@buddly47 - coffee ok -- cigs, not so much!
@slmret - It's the coughing that gets my heart started, Janet! lol
@buddly47 - Hah! Just don't cough too hard, then!
I do almond milk, strawberries, banana, spinach and ice. Sometimes I sub the almond milk for low fat greek yogurt.
I just talked about my vitamin smoothie in my last post...
Thumb size chunk of ginger - no need to peel itLemon, leave the peel on but wash it goodOrange, peel itGrapes, handfulCucumberParsley, some5 stalks of celeryKale, of course, cuz it's a super food and all super people shud eat it!I suggest organic all the way!I have to strain mine because I can't do the pulp...so, with the leftover pulp, I make crackers in my dehydrator...I'll add:Flax seed and ground flaxSesame seedsGarlic,Braggs amino acids, tblspOnion, Chia seedsAnd whatever else I might fancy....maybe a little cumin or some cayenne ... You can't go wrong here...Smooth it on some parchment paper on your dehydrator trays and put them temp at 110and wait a day...The perfect 'chips' for those of us who are heah conscious!
@Curlyquilter - The crackers sound delicious!
that looks decilous
