A lot of mammals allow birds to sit on them. In return some of the birds eat some of the parasites on the animals. Often the bird provides more eyes for the deer. Some birds will help in detecting enemies.
The deer provides a nice soft perch for the deer. Maybe the chicken helps by scratching the back of the deer?
I went to Deer Forest years ago. I loved just having the animals eat out of my hand. It was such a relaxing day.
