Planting Geraniums
We got a shipment of 9,000 Geranium cuttings,
these are two flats, each flat holds 100 geraniums
4 rows of 25 eachWe put pots in flats
We put the flats through the soil machine to fill them with soil
We line em up in the Geranium House to be planted and
put a tag in each pot to identify the Geranium VarietyWe stick the proper geranium in the pot
This is what the Geranium House will look like in May

I love the last picture
Sounds like a very interesting process, but it looks like a lot of work
I never knew there was such a thing as a soil machine...
Fascinating place to work.
love the end result
Looks like a lot of hardwork that leads to gorgeous results. May i ask is this place open to public and where do i go to enjoy it?
@stevew918 - We are in Berks County PA and yes we are open to the public.
I'm guessing that kept you busy most of the morning. So what did you do after lunch?
Love seeing the workings of the greenhouse. Just wish I could SMELL it, too!
@WildWomanOfTheWest - Geraniums smell kinda pissy if you ask me!! <3
They do, but I was thinking more along the lines of all the potting soil.
being the President of the Fulton County Garden Club i say impressive!!! and yes i remember helping mom plant geraniums as a kid. i always hated the way they smelled!
Can't wait to see! I'd love to work somewhere like that! How lovely!
I always wanted to see what 9000 looked like.
That is a lot of work, but the end result is well worth it!
So, like John asked, what'd ya do after lunch?
It's interesting to see how the plants are grown that we pick up at the nurseries hardware stores! And these are beautiful shots of the process, too! Geraniums grow almost wild here -- I remember one from when I was a kid that grew up annd over a wall of the house!
I neeeed a soil machine. LOL Beautiful work!
Yeah! What do you do after lunch?!? shglaf
Beth, my grandmother used to take her geraniums out of the soil every fall and put the roots in a bag with some dirt and used dried coffee grounds and hang them in a cool spot in the basement all winter. They always came back and were beautiful the next year. Ever try that?
Well - what Did you do after lunch? I think geraniums smell pissy too but I love marigold and potting soil smells
I like red geraniums the best but white and salmon are pretty too. How do they get the cuttings??
My favorites! Mine are starting to look a little scrubby... I might start fresh this year.
Wow, that is a lot a lot a lot of seed sowing!
May I just say that this brings back SO many memories?? My mother in law works at a green house, & I decided to work with her for a few weeks... It is SUCH hard work, but we had many conversations while putting flowers in the dirt. Looking at the last picture makes me feel the warmth of that place... <3
Very cool and you got a lot of work ahead of you.
Looks like a successful system! We planted geraniums last year (they were a gift). Maybe this year I'll get some irises.
Oh how beautiful...a lot of work..but the end result.. what a huge greenhouse....just wonderful...good luck with them..take good care..hugs, Lee
That's awesome. Looks like a ton of work though. I'm sure it's worth it though in the end. I love working with my hands like that to see things come to ... flower in the next few months.
Looks like a lot of fun! Makes me want a few flowers around the house.
You have a huge enterprise of gardening and flower . It is amazing .
Love
Michel
BTXW Beth, I didn' t hear from you for a while . No time ?
It is so nice to see those blooming flowers....plant away, my friend, so that beauty can be shared!
Beth, in spite of years of gardening, I had never given much thought to the amount of work involved prior to my buying the seedlings. You have my undying gratitude and admiration.
Wow way cool I love the last picture
I always like to see what is going on in the green houses. My geraniums grow all over the place with some blooms. I need to figure out how to keep them more controlled and encourage them to bloom more. I cut the ones on my deck back a few weeks ago.
