What Sweetener do You Use?
Yesterday I mentioned Agave Nectar,
I just bought some and I like the taste of it.
I can't use sugar and have been looking for a good sweetener.
I grew Stevia and that is really sweet, I use it when I make tea etc.
I am not sure what sweetener works good for cooking and baking.
What sweetener do you use?

I use the same two you use but I don't cook nor bake so I can't help you out at all.
Splenda is good for baking -- they make a version, too, that is 1/2 Splenda, 1/2 sugar.
i can't use splenda because it upsets my stomach, sweet and low has a lot of bad in it and i'm too nervous to try anything else because i hear artifical sweeteners are awful and even natural sweeteners are becoming more man made or something, blah blah blah blah.
if i'm baking something i'm using sugar, plain and simple hahahahaha.
I haven't used any sugar substitutes in baking, so I cannot comment on that. I use what the recipes call for, granulated sugar, brown sugar, etc. The only time I use a sugar substitute is in my coffee, which I use Equal packets.
I use sugar for baking, but usually less than what the recipe calls for. I just bought some Truvia envelopes for my husband to try (stevia.) He likes to make "lemonade: out of his water when we eat out, because he doesn't like the city water. We have well water at home.We heard a nutritionisy speak recently and she told us how bad sugar is for you and said the sugar substitutes aren't good either, except for stevia. She said a little bit of local honey is OK. I guess the secret is in that "little bit."

Truvia is a chemical mixture of the two make by Coke but I like Truvia , I used it in cheesecake and no one knew the difference,i even asked if it tasted different.
I make Lemonade when I am out too! LOL
I like to use honey in my tea and stevia in my iced tea. My dh used stevia in some chocolate mint cookies once. You need to add sugar free apple sauce to the recipe to replace the bulk of the sugar in the recipe and it works out really nicely. I think he did the same making a cake using stevia but you could really really taste the apple in that. Not so much in the chocolate mint cookies.
I have a little bit of blue agave syrup left. I usually use local honey, or stevia.

I used to put Splenda in my coffee, but now it makes me nauseous. I won't even touch the stuff. Now, I opt for Truvia if it's around. Most of the time, I just use regular sugar sparingly.
Being diabetic, I use Splenda for everything. I may try Stevia (Truvia) just to say I gave it a chance. You never know, I might like it better.

Since giving up processed sugars (or the attempt to give up processed sugars) I did pick up a bottle of agave, but have yet to try it, but it's suppose to work for baking.
I didn't know that about Truvia. It's hard to get away from chemicals in our food these days.
I hate stevia. But I like Splenda even though its not so good for you. I also use Honey since it has a low Glycemic index.
I'm planning to grow stevia this year. I generally use brown sugar or honey. I really dislike white sugar - doesn't feel good in my guts.
Sugar! I love sweet things. Pears are delightfully sweet!
