Sunday Shoutout is BACK! : YourOuterCritic
I took a break from posting Shoutouts but I have a great lineup to bring you,
starting with @YourOuterCritic.
I first noticed Dan's comments on TheTheologiansCafe's site,
they always make me laugh.
He doesn't post a lot but you see his comments or recs
all around Xanga and I think he is one of the wittiest commenters here.1. Can you give a brief outline of your life, family?
I was born in Adrian, Michigan, where I spent the first eighteen years of my life.
My dad made a living fixing computers; my mom was a nurse.
I had (and still have) an older brother, three years older than me.
He and I got a long pretty well, though I know I annoyed him a lot.
I have little recollection of us playing together, but I remember almost breaking
his neck while wrestling.
I attended public school through first grade
then switched to the private Christian school from which I graduated.
I got along with most kids and had a handful of good friends.
When I went off to college, I lost touch with all of them.
That is one of my greatest regrets in life.
College was -- as Dickens supposedly said -- the best of times
and the worst of times. I met some great people and learned a lot;
I also had a run-in with depression, which hit me like a punch to the gut.
The fifteen years post-graduation have been a blur.
I taught college English for a semester, but didn't feel up to the challenge of
pursuing it as a career. Since then, jobs have paid the bills but offered little else.
Evenings and weekends have been filled with family, church, Toastmasters,
and a multitude of hobbies.2. What are your main interests, hobbies or collections?
Movies, classic lit, history (esp. WWI and Victorian England),
foreign and ancient languages, philosophy, theology,
Scrabble, music, and drawing.
Nature study often takes up a big chunk of my time.
3. What is one of the craziest things you have ever done?Eating beondegi? I don't know. I usually try to avoid 'crazy'.
4. What brought you to Xanga?
My friend Shawn pestered me into joining, then he quit.
5. How did you pick your Xanga name
and how do you like to be addressed here?
I don't remember the thought process behind picking my Xanga name.
Just a momentary whim, I guess. At the time, I had no serious plans to blog
or interact with anyone besides my friend Shawn.
Offline, people call me 'Dan'.
They probably call me some other things too.6. What are some of your favorites?

Citizen Kane, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Star Wars (Yup. I'm a nerd.),

I'm easily satisfied with American casual-style food but also enjoy Asian cuisine.

I learn the same things over and over again:
I am lazy, surly, fearful, and blessed.10. What is something / someplace
