First Elmo,now the Glasses...
A few years back on a morning visit to my mom,
she got a serious look on her face and said she had something to tell me,
my heart skipped a beat, I thought someone died.
Nope, in a very solemn manner she said
" Last night you ran over Elmo"
Yep, Elmo.
She babysat my nephew who loved to play in the puddles,
and he left Elmo in the driveway.
My nephew dispatched a rescue party to save Elmo,
so I went out and removed the car from Elmo's head,
Elmo was a little flat at first but made a full recovery
Today my mom said to me "I can't find my glasses"
now this is nothing new, she can never find her glasses.
I do not think much of it until I heard a crunch
under the front wheel of the van when I was parking in the driveway
in front of my mom's apartment (which is on the side of our house).
I went to see what crunched,
I just started laughing. Of course it was the glasses,
my mom had absolutely the worst luck with her glasses!
"Mom, the good news is I found your glasses and
the bad news is, they were in the driveway."Funny thing is I posted the pic on Facebook and my sister commented
Guess a safety pin wouldn't help"

ha, that is the Mildred special...
but it aint gonna work this time.

I rejoice that Elmo will make a full recovery, but I'm sure sorry about the broken glasses...
jeez I hate breaking a pair as expensive as they are !!!
love that last picture as that is absolutely something my mother would do and would wear them like that for as long as they held together

@armnatmom - I have managed to miss the kids and the dog but I have run over the hose and flowers off to the side once.
glad you "missed" the kids and the dog!! maybe your mom could tie them around her neck?
maybe you need glasses with a safety pin?

Aww no, on the glasses! Yay for Elmo tho! Does your mom have free repalcement on the glasses? One repalcement a year on ours. The funny thing is after we started adding the replacement insurance we haven't broken any glasses...

It actually does my heart good to see Elmo get run over. I always found the little booger so annoying.

Delightful. So happy that Elmo's friends were able to put him back together again. Isn't that what friends are for? Love the eye glass repair, but I think it will take a bit more than that. Hope it isn't terrible expensive. The pics were wonderful. Yet another smile piled on top of so many others from today. Thank you.
I think it is time to invest in a fancy chain or a clip that holds the glasses (like they have for pacifiers on babies)... hehe! Looks like the lenses are ok - maybe just a new pair of frames?

LOL I wish I had thought of a safety pin eons ago when I was in the 6th grade and the arm of my glasses came off. I had to go around for five or six months with just one side of my glasses on, and kids teasing me saying 'spooooooky glaaaaassseeesss' while they wiggled their finger next to my ear. Kiddo's are so cruel, but now I have something to laugh about. Ahhh, the good ol days.

I was constantly misplacing my glasses too. Then I heard Joyce,( Murisopsis' mother ) when they were here last year. She told me that she had glasses in every bathroom. What an excellent idea! I went and got about seven more pairs of glasses and now I have a pair in just about every room and bathroom and one in the car!
But poor Elmo! Beth those pictures were too cute for words. And your nephew, so adorable!

Your mom and my husband have a lot in common. I should take a picture of the safety pin in our toilet tank.
My problem is that whenever I drop something, I always step on it as I go to pick it up. oh, bother
Poor Elmo *chuckle chuckle* Glad he recovered! Your Mum is very resourceful to repair her glasses that way! You have a lovely home and how nice your Mum can live there also.
Oh dear, I don't think the glasses will recover as fast as Elmo. When will they start making them out of rubber? I've bent and broken more than I can count.
@ZSA_MD - my mother bought a 6 pack, and keeps one in her purse, one on the table, one on the counter, one in the living room, and one at her mother's in case she needs to read something when she's over there.
Hmm now your drive way seems to be a place not to leave things and I bet you felt just awful.
