Budville for Buddly
Buddly Crocker is back with "Three Bean Chili" for the fall weather.
See the post HERETo welcome @Buddly47 back I am posting the pics I took on Rt 66 in Budville,NM
Budville, New Mexico was named for Bud Rice whose father
built the first garage here in the 1920s.
Bud and his wife, Flossie, ran a towing business here.
It was quite successful too.
In 1967 Bud was murdered during a hold-up.
Flossie ran the family business for another 12 years before finally closing in 1979.

Very cool.
I'm touched, and honored! Thank you!
Glad I'm not Bud Rice tho! lol
It is just too cookin' to have him back with all the fun food and well just having buddy is a blessing@buddly47 -
This is perfect~
Isn't it wonderful to have Bud back again!
The red, black, white look amazing in these rustic shots~
Love Budley47! @buddly47 - welcome back!
YaY! for Buddly! It's about time someone named a town after him!
Such a nice post! Love the pictures and tribute to Buddy47!
I love the sign... especially in the last photo as a contrast to the red and white.
That is an interesting story about Budville.
I have to say, I loved the sky in the picture in the middle. The black & white & red ones weren't too bad either.
@buddly47 - Truth.
The photos are nice.
Love it!
Love these! Wish I hadn't been so tired when we stopped here. I think I got one shot out the car window. I started to get out of the car, then decided you had it all under control.
Why shut down.
I love these shots of Budville, Beth! Those old gas pumps used to be everywhere when I was a kid -- now it's hard to find them. I used to be fascinated by the color of the liquid (gasoline) inside! A neat post!
I like the info about Budville. that 3-bean chili looks wonderful! Can I try a bite?
Wow, cool.
Mmm, chilly. That's a sad story about Bud, though!
I am surprised the word road is said "route" too in American language like in French . The sign says Olde route 33 . What does "olde" mean ? Old ?
This route inspires me and it looks you have travelled in the history.
Love
Michel
What fun shots. The chili looks wonderful...I'll be making some soon!
Neat (but sad) story.
Happy Wednesday to you. =)
I'm craving chili right now. That looks good!
that is so neat that you found this town for Buddly47 and I got hungry looking at his site.
Anytime I hear of "3 bean chili" or "14 bean soup", I really hope they are big beans cause that's not much to get full on, let alone share. Sometimes I take things just a bit too literally.
Luv this post!
Love the post and ready for me some CHILIE!!!! Yahoo!!!
Good story and pictures-stay out of the phone booth after you eat that bowl full.
Nice pictures Beth. I used to make 4 alarm chili with a kit you bought from the store but that was years ago. I still put jalapenos in mine my not Larry's. I use El Tapatio Mexican hot sauce too.
I am off Tues. and Wed. with the housekeeping job. Larry works noon to 9 pm Fri. if you want to Skype after 6 pm that night. IF I don't get the HUC job I will still be off Tues. and Wed. so pick a time that's good for you and we can go with that. Haven't heard any decision about the job yet. Hoping I get it but been turned down before so I don't know. Hoping to hear something by this Thurs. or Fri. as the next orientation class for the job is Sept. 27th and last for 3 weeks and then you go on your unit and learn the way they want the job done there.
@martna1 - We are heading to the shore tomorrow so anytime next week is good.
Have a good time at the shore. Sept. 12 we will be boarding Charlie and heading to NJ to see Larry's mom. Her health has been up and down so he wants to go out there. We will also visit my baby sister and come back to OH Sept. 16, probably back by 5 or 6 pm. Back to work for the weekend. Don't know what will happen with the job situation but I will let you know. Hoping to use his laptop while there so maybe we can Skype then.
Such fascinating stories that road has.... been down some of it myself... would like to tour the whole thing myself one day... perhaps do it in an old school automobile.
