I love Joanna's work and think she is adorable, she certainly is talented and beautiful.
1. Can you give a brief outline of your life, family?
My family consists of me, my daughter and my boyfriend. and they ARE my life.
Xanga probably knows me as the amateur cake decorator...
I'm also an ECE, peanut allergy mom, amateur photographer, visual art major.

2. When did you realize your passion for cake decorating?
Seeing all the cool cakes on foodnetwork, I wanted to order a fondant cake for my daughter's birthday. But after calling several custom cake places in Toronto, only one of them could guarantee a nut and peanut free cake. (My daughter is severely allergic to tree nuts and peanuts). I didn't really like their style so I didn't place an order. I decided to make one myself, it took a lot of hours but I really enjoyed it.
That was the same year we found out my daughter's peanut allergy so I started offering my friends if I can give them a birthday cake for their kids' birthdays as a gift so I can make sure my daughter can get a slice. That's how it all started! Friends and family started asking me to make cakes, and very soon, friends of friends and it just kept going!
What are some of your favorite cakes you have made so far?
Favourite cakes.. have to be my sushi cakes.

the reaction I get from people every time, it's incredible.
The sushi cakes can really fool someone it's not a cake!
3. Besides social sites what are your favorite websites?
4. What brought you to Xanga?
I don't remember why I joined. I had an old Xanga account a long time ago.
It generated a lot of views but then I closed it down,
and I rejoined 2 years ago and this time around I connected with many Xangans.. so I'm staying.
5. What are some of your styles and accessories?
I don't really have a style, not a fashion caring kind of girl. i know i never wear jeans.
6. What inspires you to be a better person?
My daughter.
I studied Early Childhood Education because of her. Now I'm an Ece.
The first fondant cake I made was for her.
Now I'm a cake decorator. and everything else, every day,
she makes me want to be a better mother, a better person.
7. What challenges have you faced recently?
Time. I sleep 5 hours most days, there's never enough hours in a day for me.
I am starting a full time job second week of June.
I've been feeling stressed and nervous thinking about it.
Full time work, full time mom, part time cake,
I'm scared I won't be able to handle everything.
8. What is something you have learned about yourself these last few months?
I learned that i cared too much about the small things that don't really matter.
When I started letting small things slide, I was a lot more relax and happier.
9. What is something/someplace you have always wanted to do/see?
I've always wanted to go to Korea and I finally got to go this past february.
Something I"ve always wanted to do was attend a talk show, be in the live audience!
I would love to see leno, letterman, kimmel, ellen, and even maury!
I also want to be on The Ultimate Cake Off show..
maybe some day!

@Joanna_said_SO - you sound like a wonderful person and what a pretty little girl you have.
Joanna is amazing! She really is, should have her own Food Network show.
Those are beautiful cakes. I'll go by and say hello.
What a fascinating person! I can also tell that little girl is going to go far, especially with such a dedicated mother.
You have a sweet little daughter! Maybe some day we'll see you and your cakes on the Food Channel~
Those cakes and sushi look fantastic. Beautiful child and she has photographed her in a way that cathes the emotion or feeling of the moment. Excellent.
The Ultimate Cake Off, and then her own Food Network Show~
do it.
I relate to her fear of not being able to handle it all or get it all done.
Thanks Beth, enjoyed learning about Joanna~
She is so talented.

Great post!
She is one of the nicest and most creative people on xanga.
Always nice learning about other Xangans. Your daughter is beautiful, Joanna, and your cakes are a delight! Best of luck to you in all that you pursue!
it's not just the cakes. She's a darling. Kinda makes me feel like a sinner. She did not specify the father.
the cakes are beautiful!
and the sushi ones look really cool.
I have been to her site before she is really sweet and sometimes funny
Great feature. I really learned a lot about her here. I never knew she was a mother!
I love her site and seeing her creations. She's very talented!
The Hermes bags review, reports that it is well worth it to visit the Louis Vuitton studio and shop. It is not very surprising, either, that the shop finds its headquarters in Paris - the center of fashion, and new trends in the world of Beauty. Well, when you come to the shop you forget about all your problems and almost sink in the beauty of such handmade beauty.
Very impressive... she's makes quite the entry.... awesome about the cake thing, my wife loves doing craft things like that as well. She does a lot of crocheting these days.
THis is such a great post! I didn't know anything about her beyond being a cake decorator! Beautiful pictures of her daughter by the way. So fun and artsy!
Her daughter is absolutely stunning. And so is she.
Joanna doesn't talk about her daughter much in her own blog, but I instinctively knew she is an excellent and caring mother. Keep those cakes coming!
