We have about six rain barrels around the house
we use them to rinse things off, to wash the porch or soak burnt pots.
Yesterday as I was walking past the rain barrel
I noticed it was full of Maple seed pods.
They made a beautiful pattern.

Here are other photos our rain barrels that I've posted before
Moss on the wooden rain barrel

The Kids like to play in the rain barrels

Great photos, as always. I love the ones of the maple seed pods! We always called those whirly-gigs - if you throw them up in the air, they whirl down! (except I think they still have to be attached to do that!)
Those seeds do make a wonderful pattern. I really like the rain barrel pictures. What do you do about mosquitoes?
I LOVE THESE PHOTOS. heh. omg. really, beth: you are the bomb.
Love!
those maple seeds look intricately woven and gorgeous! Praise the hand of God for the artistry! :) Lovely, as always, Beth
@C_L_O_G - We put 1/4 c of bleach in the water every so often it works well.
Great shots of the seed pods. Did you touch it up to make it look kind of like a drawing within the picture though? Pretty cool.
great photos. I love the ones with the maple seeds best...very special!!
You are living a nice life ~ stopping to smell the roses, so to speak. Thanks for sharing this with us.
@MadraysGarden - NoI did not,I adjusted the brightness and contrast a notch but that is all,it looks like a painting!
I really like these pictures, the maple seeds...great backdrop picture for a computer.
omgee ... i just love those maple seed pods!! spectacular fotoz ma'am!! mag quality!! yes, indeed!!
Lovely photos. The seed pod photos remind me of fractals. The closeup of the moss makes me think that to a very small insect, that bucket is a vast landscape.
These are just beautiful! Wonderful. Thank you!
beautiful.
Just gorgeous Beth, what talent! You and that camera are a great team,
Mornin Glorie...we called them helicopters, but I've never seen them in a rain barrel, they kinda look like tadpoles - GREAT SHOTS ...we have a mosquito problem in the bird baths, would the bleach be bad for the birds?
@mlbncsga - I would not use it I did read that there are solar devices that circulate water to deter mosquitos.
I appreciate that you see beauty in the little things, and take the time to photograph them.
We had a strong wind last week and I was driving through maple seed pod showers! I actually had to turn my wipers on! It lasted about 3 minutes on my street as every yard has huge maple trees in the front.
I love that second pic, it really does look like a painting!
I like the barrel right before the stairs on the back patio that Ida said she used to water the planters in that area of the yard.
Really great photos ... I would love to see second part of the same photo post... My favorite is second ...
Red Dead Redemption Cheats
My favorites were the cute kid and the really cool green moss. All of them were sensational really. With so many children in your life, how do you even remember their names, jk.

Wow... these are beautiful. The first one, in particular, looks like a painting to me. You always find the most beautiful things to photograph... and I'm grateful that you share it with us.
It's been a long time since I've seen Maple tree pods. Thanks for the memory.

The Maple seeds are unreal! So pretty!
Beth, the two maple seed pod shots are spectacular -- and thanks for reposting the others as well!

The seed pattern looks like an illustration rather than a photo.
Those seeds sure did know whose rain barrel to land in! Stunning photos, Beth. Bravo! (And who could resist a blog titled "Rainbarrel Photos".

Rain barrels to water my gardens are on my list~ the rare rains won't come close to supplying what they need, but every bit helps. I use the dog water to drench the FireWitch.
lovely!
Rain barrels. What a beautiful photo study! Who would've thunk it?
Wow, they make SUCH a pretty pattern. I didn't read the description at first and was trying to figure out what on earth it was! I thought it was some sort of fabric stretched out over a drum or something. So glad you captured that pretty moment!
