Jumping
Sometimes I think that swinging and jumping is more than just childhood fun.
It is freedom for a bit, high above everything, where we could dream,
soar, be free from the weight of our world.I used to swing for hours when I was a kid, I rode my bike to an old playground
and would swing and swing, as high as I could go, I would swing for hours
I still love to swing.
O men, grown sick with toil and care,
Leave for awhile the crowded mart;
O women, sinking with despair,
Weary of limb and faint of heart,
Forget your years to-day and come
As children back to childhood's house.

i like that phoebe!! oh, for the simple joys of childhood, what would we give?
swinging, jumping and elevators all have that small second of weightlessness that makes our worries fall off....
I like all of them. First photo was captured perfectly! *SIGH* Childhood memories..... It's great how you spend time with your nieces and nephews.
When I used to jump on our trampoline, I would have to wear a maxi pad, because I would tinkle my pants.
We have 2 porch swings. I seldom pass our little local park without taking a swing or 2. My childhood swings were a delight to me and swinging remains so.I know a couple who have a porch swing in their living room with a window overlooking a river. Oh how I wish I had one in the house also.
Because it's fun. My kids had better get a good push when they get on the swing when we go to the park, because they're gonna have a hard time getting Daddy off the swing later to push them again. I love/hate the feeling when you get up even with the top of the swingset and the chains go slack for just a second before gravity takes hold again, you begin to fall, and with a thump, you're solidly back in the seat again.
Love this post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Such feelings led me to springboard diving, to bicycles then motor-scooters, to fly airplanes and sailplanes, to sky dives and sport parachutes...
Now I'm old and slow, but with many, many fun memories as I enjoy such fun as your photos show.
What fun pictures! I love the 3rd one. I always love jumping on a trampoline, even to this day!
I love the pictures and the poem at the end.
I was swinging yesterday in the park.
Great photos. I jumped on the trampoline with my granddaughter just the other day! There should have been pictures of THAT! LOL!
I think you're right.
I love swinging, we always had a big rope swing growing up...you could really fly through the air on that one!
I used to swing for hours too and I felt so free and left all of my burdens on the ground as I swung back and frth in the air no longer atatched to the earth.
Love that next to the last pic, she looks free as a bird!
swinging and jumping on trampolines give me horrible motion sickness...
I've landed on my head a few times. Find the cost of freedom!
Wheeeeeee! :)
great pictures
We never had a trampoline but we did have swings and you can swing literally for hours. We used to pump our legs fast to see how high we could go and, yes, we DID jump out of the swing when we were up high. Luckily, none of us broke anything! Nice pictures.
I get motion sick on a swing set now. How sad. I love that last picture.
I love jumping and skipping and all that from childhood. But I've taken the jumping to a different level now that I'm older. Getting ready to get my certificate in skydiving. Skydiving is like swinging and jumping all in one. Jumping because you're jumping out of a plane, and swinging because of that free flight feeling. =D It's definitely a free feeling, and that is something I miss from childhood.
I LOVE swinging, especially with my eye's closed. It's feel like I'm flying...
I've never been comfortable with heights, but sometime after I hit 40, I lost my fear of (most) roller coasters and discovered that free feeling.
nice
it's freedom...something we as adults give up sadly, well most not all.
one of the perks of working with children: I get to swing any time I want to. life is good. great pics, Beth...muah.
I was just dreaming of freefall... it was wonderful!
Love the pictures, especially the first one. You captured it perfectly!
