Sunday Shoutout:Perelandra30
It is fun to do a shoutout and think to myself ,I can pick whomever I want
and I want to pick everyone eventually.I love perelandra30 and thought I would ask her
So this week we get to learn more about Ann
1. Can you give a brief outline of your life, family?
I have been married 27 years to my beloved husband. We live on 286 acres of the most beautiful country that God ever put on this green earth.
We have five sons and one daughter. Three of our sons are currently serving in the military. Our oldest just turned 27 and got engaged to marry and our youngest is 19 which means that we should be experiencing an empty nest. But I don’t think that is ever going to happen around here. They keep coming and going and that is how my husband and I like it.
2. What are your main interests, hobbies or collections?
I have far too many interests to list. What I do around here is sew, a lot!
I also like to scrapbook all the photos that I take of everything and anything that happens around here. With all the people that come and go in our lives there is always something happening so there are plenty of subjects for pictures. I also like to write. I write down thoughts and feelings and little stories of things that my kids have done. I imagine that someday after I am gone they are going to find my journals and recognize themselves in the stories that I have written.
3. What are you studying for and what are you planning to use it for?
Currently I am in school online working to get my bachelors in English Literature. I have homeschooled my kids for 23 years and have taught many other people’s kids, I thought that it was time for me to teach and get paid for it for a change.
4. What brought you to Xanga?
I came to Xanga because my son p_obrien was on here. Right about the time that the two oldest were leaving the country for the Army I started to read my son’s blog and thought that it would be a good way to keep in touch with both of them without having to write the same thing over and over again and also be able to include pictures and audio.
5. What is your passion, pet peeve?
My passion and my pet peeve sort of go hand in hand. My passion is education.
I like education of any and every kind. From teaching my grandson where his nose is to teaching older kids that poetry won’t kill them, I love education.
My pet peeve is ignorance. I don’t mean people who necessarily don’t know things that I don’t know or even things that they have never had the chance or ability to learn. I am talking about just plain ignorance. People who have been taught proper English and refuse to speak correctly.
People who are offered a chance to learn something that may help them get a better life,
job, or live better and simply choose not to out of ignorance.
6. What inspires you to be a better person?
What inspires me to be a better person is the love of God and the people that he introduces me to who are better people. I truly believe that each person who exhibits a virtue that I don’t have is someone that God has put in my path to teach me and inspire me.
7. What challenges have you faced recently?
I am always facing some kind of challenge. My biggest challenge is patience. We are trying to sell some acreage so that we can buy a house and move out of this one. This little venture is teaching me the true meaning of patience. Every time that we get a hit I tend to get excited and then really let down when nothing pans out.
8. What is something you have learned about yourself these last few months?
This is a tough question. I hope that every day I learn something new about myself, even if it is only something small that needs tweaking. I guess what I have learned lately that has the greatest impact is my capacity to love and that I can indeed forgive the way I have always said I would like to be able to. That sounds complicated but all I mean is that, as a parent we all profess to love unconditionally and teach our children that no matter what we will always love them and forgive them. In a way that was tested in me recently and I am finding that I am so far able to love that large and forgive that much. I hope that larger and more is not asked of me, yet but that if it is I will be up to the task.
9. What is something/someplace you have always wanted to do/see?
I am a homebody so traveling isn’t really something that I crave but I can’t leave unsaid the fact that I have always wanted to drive up the AlCan highway someday. I love mountains and forests and I have seen pictures along that highway that I want to see in real life. I don’t desire beaches or large bodies of water but big trees and mountains speak to me of the grandeur of God and that’s what settles my soul.
There are also a couple of Xangans that I would like to meet face to face simply because I sense great wisdom and I would like to experience that wisdom in the flesh. SaintVi is one.
As well as Old Hat, you Beth. I’d like to have a beer with Bricker and listen to his stories.
I would like to spend a week with my sister from another mother Ugotafriend out in CA
and I know it would be heaven to sit surrounded by books and listen to
Leah read her poems and stories and have her read her favs to me.Ann is really worth getting to know,she is a bright jewel in the treasure chest of Xanga.

I love her "Simple Woman's Daybook" posts. After reading one of them, I find myself thinking about the details of what I am experiencing the rest of the day. Right now, I am listening to Neil Diamond singing and a loose storm window vibrating in the wind, looking at my husband reading the paper, feeling the dog laying next to me, smelling the enchiladas my husband warmed up for lunch... She's taught me to occasionally freeze the moment, examine it and enjoy it.
A very special lady indeed. I really dig being her friend.
