  • Sunday Shoutout:Heart_Beep

I get to Shoutout Jill ( Heart_Beep ) on her birthday!

She is our joy here, her smile and sweetness light up the pages.

1.Can you give a brief outline of your life?

I was born 50 years ago (ack!) in Cincinnati, Ohio and still live here!
I went to Ohio State University in Columbus, OH and graduated with a degree in Journalism.
I lived in Columbus for awhile, sowing my wild oats, I guess you could say

and then met and married and moved back to Cincinnati.
I was married for 21 years and recently divorced.
I have two beautiful, talented daughters, 19 and 14.

I’m finally discovering just who I really am and hoping to pursue my dreams.
I currently work as a receptionist at a hair salon/spa and love it!
I love the people contact and the fact I get paid for talking!

2.What are your main interests, hobbies or collections? Pics of any?

My main interests are my daughters, friends, writing, reading, traveling, antiquing and exploring old bookstores. (I spend way too much money at bookstores.
I just need to get it over with and get a job at one so I can start getting a discount!)

I collect coffee mugs and vintage Christmas decorations, the tackier the better. I love all those glittery, gaudy ones from the 50s and 60s. I guess it just reminds me of when I was little. I can’t leave an antique store or a flea market without buying some
Christmas decoration. I actually have about 50 rubbermaid containers of decorations! Now that I live in an apartment, I don’t what I’m going to do with half the stuff!

3.Do you have a weird talent,if so what is it?

I have a talent for sticking my foot in my mouth? hahahahahahahaha! I can bend my big toe and my baby toe down and leave the other 3 sticking up. Is that weird and talented? Oh, and I can listen to two conversations going on at once and respond to both of them. But I think any mom or woman can do that!

    4.What brought you to Xanga?

My oldest daughter had one a few years ago. It was really popular with high schoolers until MySpace and Facebook took over. I liked the idea of writing and so I created one two years ago. Thomas Michael and Scrogers kept me here and now all my Xanga friends have been such a blessing and I’ve become so close to so many of them that I could never leave!

    5.What is your passion,pet peeve?

My passion is definitely writing. I write in my journal everyday and carry it with me wherever I go. I get inspiration from everyday things that touch my life. My pet peeve is when people get overly negative about certain Xanga posts and go into rant mode. There’s too much negativity in this world to put a cloud over such a creative environment as Xanga.
That, and people who pick their nose in public.

6.What inspires you to be a better person?

The positive attitude my mom instilled in my siblings and me. And,
I want my daughters to have a good example in their lives.
    They inspire me

to show them that dreams can come true, that kindness and
love are the best attributes to share with others.

7.What are some favorite posts of yours that you have written?

Favorite posts of others that you have read?

Favorite posts of mine are “I’m Seasonal” (Sept.09), “Immeasurable” (Oct. 09),
    and my all time favorite,
because it’s what I really want to happen between me and someone is
    “Caffeine Dream” (Jan. 10).

    Favorite Xangans
(there’s no way I could pick a favorite post because they have so many amazing entries!):
Scrogers because he makes you laugh out loud while at the same time your cheeks are blushing (your face cheeks, Scott, I know what you’re thinking!)
Thomas_Michael because he does life and love and heartache so well with a magical weave of words,
Jacksoncroons because she is the nicest person and her entries are hilarious and touching, Zens_Pen because she’s not afraid to say it like it is,
Roadkill_Spatula for taking us along his life journey
and for explaining home improvement in such a gorgeous way,
Finity for expressing through her beautiful words what I so often feel in my heart, WildWomanoftheWest for showing me that through lifes ups and downs a positive spirit and kindness are what always shine through.

I could go on and on and I feel really bad leaving all the rest of my Xanga friends out. I would mention each and everyone of you and what you mean to me if I had the space. (Hey, maybe that will be a blog!) But, please do know that not a day goes by that I don’t log on to Xanga to read the most incredible writing around. All of you touch my heart and soul in so many ways and leave me crying, laughing, smiling, content that I have found such a beautiful group of friends here on Xanga.

    8.Favorites: music,movies,websites,artists?

Anyone who reads my site definitely knows that I love R&B! I couldn’t go a day without listening to it. My favorite R&B artist is Maxwell. I’ve been to Detroit a lot and have yet to go to the Motown museum. Shame on me! I also love Dave Matthews, Coldplay, Ryan Adams, some old rock, some country, and some indie.

My favorite movies are sappy love stories, including all the ones with
Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, or Sandra Bullock, or Jennifer Aniston, etc. If they make my heart swell or my eyes water, then it becomes a favorite of mine! My favorite Christmas movie is “Miracle on 34th Street”, the black and white version from the 40s.

My favorite website is definitely Xanga. I really only check my email and then go to Xanga.
The only other websites I use are travelocity to make hotel reservations
and mapquest to get where I’m going and Google to find out facts.
Oh, and I “youtube” alot when I’m writing.
I find a musical artist and then keep selecting their songs to play while I’m writing!

9.What is something that makes you laugh?

Stupid humor movies, Steve Carrell, Kevin James, America’s Funniest Home Videos, my youngest daughter’s impressions from movies and shows (she is crazy good at them!), Jacksoncroons’ comments and Scott Rogers always makes me laugh!

10.What is something/someplace you have always wanted to do/see?

I want to one day visit everyone of my Xanga friends. Little roadtrips to get to know them and be in their environment. Right now I want to visit Sleeping Bear Dunes in Northern Michigan. I plan on going there in the spring with my daughters. And, I just made reservations for October to visit Jacksoncroons for a long weekend and we’re going to make a roadtrip to Boston to see Macphoto! I’m super excited!

Go wish Jill  a Happy Birthday HERE!
