Fun at the Mennonite Thrift Store
My ma and I went to the Re-Uzit Thrift Store in New Holland,PA.
Profits from the Re-Uzit Shop are sent to the Mennonite Central Committee.
MCC provides food, health, school,
and relief supplies for people in need throughout the world.I had fun taking a few photos with my cell phone….see me there?
They had everything color coded AND labeled
if you are color blind this is the place for you,no guessing what color something is.
and magazines
hats
homemade horrors
creepy mannequins
nic-nacs
old wedding dresses
and even a corner for “Plain People”.
Head Coverings and Cape Dresses.Ever wondered what happened to …
all the ties you gave Dad?
or those scarves you lovingly knitted?
or the souvenir spoon you spent your last vacation dollar on
for Grandma’s spoon collection?
I found them!I had to race over and grab this pattern
before SHE took it,see her edging closer to it?
(that was a joke)Disclaimer:I am a Mennonite I am just being silly.
I love the rich heritage and the work of the MCC.

The neckties is a fun idea but I’m not sure it would hold up unless those were all polyesther fabric… And the hand made horrors – I will now have bad dreams!! hehehe looks like my kind of place!
great post!!!!!!
What an excellent store. Who’s the hot chick in the glasses in the curved mirror? Will she turn up next week in knitted halter and earrings made from spoons? Can you get me those mannequins so I can install them on my house as gargoyles?
This is just too cool love your humor
I used to read Mennonite literature and really liked it. I loved this store. I bet everything was quite nice that they offered.

Incredible, both the place but mainly your Nat’l Geographic level photos. You really do have a rare talent for photography. I bought a plain denim jacket there once; it’s hanging right here with my winter clothes.
@Roadkill_Spatula - I was hot! It was 90 degrees,my sister is the crocheted halter top queen,I am more of a cover up kinda dresser….I do it as a public service.
Oh you do tickle me~ love your humor. ~and call me creepy, but I love those mannequins.
you guys have the best thrift stores out there..
@WildWomanOfTheWest - I love them too!
That is one foxy knitting pattern.
hahaha…I saw my parents and grandparents stuff there.
@WildWomanOfTheWest - I want them as gargoyles to keep away sales people.
I want those mannequins too!!
Great post Beth!!
@Roadkill_Spatula - Oh~ I think they might draw folks in. all of us creepy mannequin lovin’ folks.
@WildWomanOfTheWest - even if I dress them in crocheted halters?
@Roadkill_Spatula -
. Ok, I can’t even pretend to be offended. Too funny.
Why can’t other stores be no neatly laid out? Especially with everything so helpfully labelled. It must be real easy to find your way around.
These pictures, and your comments, made me LOL! Oh, I loved those old wedding dresses. It would be so cool to see a thrift shop like that one.
Color codes clothing and 45 rpm records – how neat!
funny
I like it
That looks like a huge place. I’ll have to check it out sometime when we are down that way..
“handnade horrors”…LOL. Yep, it IS that!! There is a new MCC thrift store open in our area…this reminded me. Might have to check it out. Your store looks very organized!! When you make that pattern…I want to see you model it!!!
I LOVE that picture of you! I can see you taking it right now in my minds eye.. lol
That LIFE cover makes me chuckle too. That blog that I like to read by Joe McNally… that is a picture of his daughter that he took…
So… I know you were kidding about the woman taking it, but did you really get that pattern???
Beth you are a riot!!! Glad you had so much fun shopping!!!
The mannies look antique; I think they are kind of cool.
And I def want the halter pattern! I might have to wrestle the sister for it! hahaha!
Oooh! What a great place! I could spend hours there, just looking!
this makes me want to go the amish farms
Oh Beth, this is such a sweet, funny post! Gosh, I’d love to shop there! I’d be drawn to the knick knacks! Thanks for the smiles today!
wow they must take a lot of pride in their store for it to be so impeccably tidy
This is so cool! Some of the stuff I know I’d never buy but hello!! A color coordinated store!? SCORE!
Looks like as if you just stepped into a store from the 60′s.
PS. I love thrift stores.
Hey those are my home stomping grounds. I drop off my “treasures” there and hope they sell. Love your pictures!
Those creepy manequins are staring at me! EEEKKK!!!!!
awesome- I love thrift stores. Especially color coded ones. That’s how all of our Goodwills do it here.
Oh I woulda had a blast in there!
Ha ha! The necktie chair! That’s so ugly it’s awesome.
Now I want to head up there, old magazines and such are so much fun.
you are such a nut
sister and I went to the Salvation Army and left hubby in the car and said,”we just need to get one thing.” I noticed that the clothes there were all color coded too.
We didn’t stay long cause she just wanted to show me how much furnisher they had and that every week they mark it down till it’s gone!
I love thrift stores. Oh, once I color coded the clothes at one of my many moving sales. It was just plain fun. Loved the photos.
nice
pretties.
Great pics. I love those creepy mannequins, and if I had the room, I would have a wedding dress collection. heh (just saying) Wonderful to see your smiling face, too, Beth. Thanks for taking us shopping with you!
muah
I think this is the most organized thrift store I’ve ever seen and it is nice to know what happened to all those ties too. rofl
Silly is great!
I made all those scarves! I still have a couple around here I haven’t inflicted on anyone yet.
This seems like the kind of store I could easily get lost in and spend a week simply looking around. Like you, my heritage follows close at hand in my choice of clothing.
I’m impressed. The best quality a store can have is good organization.
I love thrift stores. You have some really fun photos here. Good post.
I’d love the skirts ma’am . and the mannequin? ohh such a creepy =D
Clothing organized by color. The work of ladies not doubt.
In secondhand shops I like to buy “home” items priced by men and “tech” items” price by ladies. I convinced that’s how you get the best value for your money.
This looks like my dream store…I could shop there for years.
nice pics
Hahaha, I loved this post! Thrift stores are the best!
Great colors and textures to take pictures of! Love them!
okay… that tie chair is my next major project! That is so cool! LOL

I am a thrift whore.
I have never seen a store color divide before! lol
I love this post. This was the most organized thrift store I have ever seen.
