  • Sunday Shoutout: Murisopsis

This week we get to know Murisopsis (Val) a bit bettter.
Saintvi has already met her, see
    HERE

Her blog is titled  "A Different Point of View"
and each post starts out with words like  "View", "Looking" or "Watching"...

Why did you pick your username and pic?
My user name literally means mouse vision,
looking at the world through the eyes and with the perspective of a mouse.
It is how I view things where small details are magnified.
The mouse is just a small creature
of no real power or importance in the opinion of most
but I really identify with mice.
So my profile picture is of a mouse
    - just your common run of the mill wild mouse.

Since I do not know you very well can you write a short bit about yourself?
A short bit pretty much describes me at 5’1.75”.
I’ve been a Xangan since August of 2007.
I’m an RVT and an RLATG (if you are curious you’ll just have to look it up).
My immediate family consists of one husband (OldDogSparky),
    2 sons (Son#1 and Son#2),
and a phobic dog (full registered name Ranger Bug-eater Roo).
Most people think I look too serious most of the time
but close friends have seen me really laugh.

    Fav quote?
There are favorites for different occasions.
At work I’m know for 2 quotes that I must mutter often:
“Math is Hard” - Barbie Doll and
“…not just merely dead but most sincerely dead.”
    – Coroner of Munchkin Land (Wizard of Oz)
At other times and places I think my favorite quote is
“The important thing is to never stop questioning” – A. Einstein

    Fav Books?
My favorite books – from childhood: The Dr. Doolittle Series,
from my young adult years: The Lord of the Rings,
after marriage: “…And Ladies of the Club”,
since turning 40: The Harry Potter Series.

    Fav Movies?
Too many but here’s an abbreviated list: Animated movie:
    Bambi (for sentimental reasons).
SciFi: Buckaroo Banzi Adventures Across the 8th Dimension,
Fantasy Movie: Lord of the Rings Trilogy,
    Musical: Singing in the Rain,
Dramatic movie: The Little Princess (Shirley Temple),
Comedy: A Fish Named Wanda, and
Favorite Chick Flick: 50 First Dates.

    Fav songs?
Hmm – most of my favorites don’t have words
and have been recorded by multiple ensembles…
    Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125,
    La Folia by Arcangelo Corelli,
Modest Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain & Pictures at an Exhibition.
As for more “modern music” – I like The Crash Test Dummies, Green Day,
almost anything by The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon,
    and for sentimental reasons
“House at Pooh Corner” by Loggins and Messina…

    Fav piece you wrote?
My favorite – I’m not a real great judge of my own work.
What I think is great is often panned by those who read my blog
and the stuff I shrug and think is just filler gets tons of views and comments.
My two favorite posts would have to be:
    Watching the Mint Harvest
    and
The View of a Dog In Love

    What brought you to Xanga?
My sister and mother – but mostly my sister. It is all her fault.
I blame the addiction to blogging on her
and then she abandons Xanga for Facebook.
She is lucky I still speak to her (but not on Facebook)!

Time of day that you like most?
10 years ago I’d have said mornings but as I get older I find that I stay up later
(genetics I’m guessing since G’ma_Joyce is a night owl now).
So my current favorite time is ~9:00 pm
too early for bed and too late to eat therefore perfect for xanga.

    Hobbies?
I work with clay for my stress release and as a creative outlet.
I’ve got many of them in my photo blog
and some on my separate web page at:
    www.nd.edu/~vschroed

"My sculptures capture the world through the eyes of the mouse
    - where small wonders become larger than life.
We are often oblivious of the exquisite detail found in nature.
By seeing objects from the mouse's point of view,
the world and everything in it takes on a richer texture.
Once again we see things clearly as if for the first time
    - and can appreciate the vastness of our environment."
    From Murisopsis Sculpture website

I love this piece of hers!!

Best advice you were ever given?
"Don’t eat the red things."  Wait! That was the advice I gave! Hmm.
"Take as many classes in high school as you can
because that will be the last education you will get for free. "

I love the way she sees the world, not missing the "small wonders".
I think she is an amazing woman and I am glad that I got to know her better.
