More Abandoned Farmhouse Pics
It reminded me of The Grapes of Wrath,like they just picked up and left.The out buildings are all still standing.
This is a shed window.
I liked both color and black and white.

I don’t know why… but the clothes pins one is my favorite.
I love the bottom one!
These are stunning photos Beth. Really. Have you thought of selling your photographs?
fantastic.
Wow, those are really awesome!
that’s what we call a shotgun house.when you can shoot a rifle and it will go all the way trhrough the house.
clothes pins is like my jar of nails photo in black and white
The two window shots, looking in through one, and out of the other.
There is something prophetic about that photo. I find it compelling.
x
These are amazing, my dear. Seriously. Thanks for sharing!
These are beautiful!
Gorgeous! I love the clothespins and the window looking through the house to the other window.
Great pics. Thanks for sharing them. I like the clothes pins.
wonderful pictures.
The color window of the window reminds me Adrew Wyeth’s painting. Great shot. Bow to you, master!
Oh, if only the place could talk! What stories would it tell?
Really makes you wonder what happened to the owners of the house and why they left.
I want that house!
This first picture is definitely my favorite. I like the shots.
these are interesting…love the clothespegs one!
You are right. It is like Grapes of Wrath.
Love the black and white window shot, and the clothespins! You really should think about doing this as a profession! Ever considered it?
@IfWallsCouldTalk21 - She really should!
These are wonderful — The clothespins in the 2nd shot remind me of birds sitting on a wire! And the others show so much character in the house and out-buildings. Did you happen to go around the shed and take a similar shot through the 2 windows from the other side? — that’s a great shot both in color and in b/w. Nice work!
I am a Grapes of Wrath freak~ and I love the b/w shed window shot. I was playing with window shots with some old stone buildings in the Wichita Mountains. I love the shot you got~ almost looks like you are watching tv~ Tamy
I’m kind of surprised nobody in the comments has remarked that these are quite sad.
I think they’re sad, anyway.
But good photographs, too.
These are breath taking.
i never can decide if color is better,,, or black and white,,,, they both have their upsides,,,,
BEAUTIFUL!
What great photos!
I really should get back into doing that.
It’s kinda gotten away from me over the
past few years.
I used to really enjoy it, whether they
were published or not.
The Grapes of Wrath comparison is perfect. Another great group of shots!
Your picture are always so beautiful! The oldest rundown things have such a brightness and beauty to them
Nice pictures. The B&W makes them stand out. I had to read The Grapes of Wrath in high school.
They almost had to call a Code Blue after this set; they took my breath away.
My favorite are the clothes poins. You always find the good stuff. I can’t wait for you to get here and go find some good stuff for me too.
These are great shots and like others have said, the clothes pins really catch my eye.
I love the photos but I just looked at your last post and it brought tears to my eyes…
@dingdongdingbat - Awww, I love you!
I’ve always seen beauty in old, abandoned, falling apart buildings but I don’t have the talent or the camera to capture the beauty I see. These are wonderful photos!
Beautiful! I love abandoned buildings. Photos of ghost towns are my favorite.
@flowerplace - HERE is a post of Bodie,a mining ghost own.
These are beautiful! I wish I could see the inside of the house.
thank you for your comment
xanga does rule and that’s all there is to say
okay sorry ..you asked a question……..answer……here i am…………orphan……..(the one where she sings about leaning on a chair..and yada)….red dirt girl…i dont wanna talk about it, one big love……….
oh and the songs she backs up on the dylan desire album….too
What lovely pictures! I personally get lost in the clothes pins on the back porch. I imagine a lady in her long floral dress with an apron wrapped at her waist, hanging clothing and linens out to dry.
@MySecretLoveAffair - You are so right ,there were three siblings that lived there all their lives,these three never married,all in their late 90′s when I noticed they were no longer there. A deaf brother and deaf sister and one who was not deaf. The ladies wore calico and sunbonnets,carried baskets on their arm to market until the last day they went to market. Theu had an old pick up and some big Plymouth fron the 50′s that they drove,the place actually stood still in time.
those are amazing!
I hope you had a wonderful day!
@Donkey_Guy_10 - I did,thank you.
It’s intriguing to see the colour and black/white images together. There is an essence of ” hope beyond” in the colour image. Is it reasonable to ask if images with a black/white ” frame ” and coloured landscape (and vice-versa) could be produced? I know this goes beyond ” found” photography but I like bending barriers. Excellent work. Be Proud!
I love the B&W window through window pic.
You are really good at taking photos =)
Abandoned buildings are kind of odd. When you’re a kid, you consider anything like that yours. Finders keepers. It seems a natural thing to play in and with the structures and items others have left behind.
When you grow up, you look at abandoned things and wonder. “What happened?”
What a treasure trove of images that old place is! I love the clothes pins. A small but telling detail that they left without preparation. Excellent.
I guess the really old clothes pins have no springs and are self closing.
I don’t think the pictures are sad, but nostalgic….
You have a gift!
I LOVE those pictures. My dad was a young man in the dust bowl days of southeastern Oklahoma and the houses he pointed out to me as places he once lived looked worse than those buildings, believe it or not. Dust bowl survivors are very proud of having survived and thrived. Gives us hope.
These are great too. If only the walls could talk….
Gorgeous photos, as always! So rare to see a house that gets to slowly return to the soil.
These are amazing Beth. I love the shallow depth of field in the first image – something you are able to do with an SLR! I love the texture and quality of all the farmhouses. So when are you having an exhibition?
-Heidi
Oh great. Now I have to go back and read up on this. Clever minx.
RYC: Agreed (obviously)
@buddly47 - @IfWallsCouldTalk21 - My former art teacher said that he would help me to set up a show at the local art gallery,he is a local painter and quit famous in the area,he loves my photos,so that would be a good start.
Wow, the first one is so cool!
Such charm the photos have…like a place lost in time..waiting for someone to come and make it a home again…love the site…stopped by…saw your comment at a friends…and wanted to pop over…great photos..thank you for sharing….enjoy your evening…hugs….Lee
Hi Beth! Thanks for responding to that vague entry. I was feeling really bad and any interaction from anyone helps. Thank you again. I do hope that things get better.
~~~
You make desertion look beautiful.
Great pictures, and I like the hint of previous life – the clothes pins, etc. Shame it was abandoned, seemes like it was full of family stuff.
Heather
Cool pics. I am partial to the clothespins.
Thanks for offering to help with the Album cover. Sadly I dumped it and ran away…like a child.
When I see a place like this I almost want to take it over and bring it back to its former glory, a home with a family…
I am very impressed with your weight loss progress! You are doing a very difficult, but wise thing. You are going from just plain beautiful, to a healthier beautiful!… er um… well you look ok, for a sister…
@seedsower - That would be an excellent start!!
I LOVE this series, but the pics of this porch with the clothes line and clothes pins, touches me. Such a sense of humanity in the mundane. Beautiful.
But certainly your own sentences should be realistic
