"Here, on a random Friday in January, is some of what is on offer from the world's mass of amateurs.
At Livejournal, BlueDuck says "ok a bottle of wine later, i wish i hAd vodka...or something. "On Twitter, a user going by nsaum75 says "looks like another sleepless night is coming to an end. 5:30am...need to be up in an hour... ::sigh::"
At YouTube, bishow1808 has just uploaded a blurry 30 second video of a fish swimming in shallow water.
At MySpace, Jonathan (M, 24) tells us "you cant say happiness without saying penis"
At Xanga, seedsower has posted several photos of a doll with different styles of
Play-Doh hair.And that, of course, is a drop in the bucket.The catch-all label for this material is "user-generated content." It's easy to deride this sort of thing as the nadir of publishing -- why would anyone put such drivel out in public?" ...See the rest HERE

I remember that post, and I thought it was cute. Sheesh, does everything have to be intellectually stimulating? I don't think anyone thought it was meant as a doctoral thesis, lol! "The Penguin Blog" needs to lighten up!

Apparently the "Penguin blog" didn't have anything good to blog about so he had to use others to make himself appear smart. That is my story and I'm sticking to it....lol.
um, wow. of all the things they could have posted about.. they find lowly xanga users to bash on? i'm finding the oddness of this hard to swallow. O_o

Bad publicity is better than no publicity right? I'm surprised the Penguin people discovered the word "blog". Maybe people are spending too much time on here and not reading Penguin publications, and they're all pissy about it.

I read the article, it made a good point, but it was awfully tediously written and I think the sneering introduction was a bit below the belt. I would rather read your drivel (and continue posting it) than that sort of pseudo-literary content any day.

Actually, I think the article did a good job of defending your post. "personal communication in a public
forum" was one of the phrases that stuck out to me. If we view blogs this way, we "get the point." But, HOW COOL to be mentioned like that!

I am quite surprise that the penguin blog has picked as Xanga entry. We blog about some amazing and interesting things which should not be dissed, but everyone has their own opinion.

That's actually rather fabulous, I must say.
Penguin definitely needs to lighten up. And using others to make yourself seem smart is a sure sign of insecurity and total ignorance that not the whole world things his viewpoint is of the highest order.
Unfortunately our world is populated with alot of these smart-asses. Go play-doh.
