  • Throw It Away !!!!

Yesterday I looked in all my junk heeps pens1024 jars and drawers to find pens and pencils to take to church.Last week at church a woman was looking for a pen ,she went thru every one  in the container vc003061bbb
and did not find a single one that worked she said
"THESE  PENS ARE JUST LIKE MINE AT HOME...NONE OF THEM WORK!"
...then ... SHE PUT THEM ALL BACK!!!!
Like every other person did before her.
    I LAUGHED!!!
Why can't people just throw them away?

Same with almost empty cereal boxes, throw them out before you open a new one
    and  milk,dish soap,shampoo,Laundry soap...

Do you throw pens away that do not work?
Do you open a new container of something before the old one is empty?

  • yes, I hate trying to use a pen that wont work.

  • Yes, I hate old pens!

  • Some of my pet peeves.  If it is empty.. throw it out.  If it doesn't write.. toss it.  If it isn't quite empty and there is another package of it.. FINISH ONE before you open the other one.  OH my word!!!   How hard is that?  Really.  I mean it is just common sense!

  • This was a law when I was growing up, somehow we have forgotten that law!!! We have though spent the day going through boxes and things, trying to save whats important and throwing the rest away. I guess we are trying to get things spiffed up before my new couch and chair come in the morning. I guess we needed something to motivate us!!!! Usually we do spring cleaning, but we have spent so much time inside with the heat we decided to put the time to good use!!!

  • I throw toilet paper rolls away in bulk so that I can conserve energy.

  • I'm not a pack-rat ~ I throw old pens out without a backward glance ~ I do wait till a box is empty before throwing it out, but wouldn't open a new one before that ~ at least I don't think I would ~ in my old age, I'm discovering I do some weird things because I'm not paying attention or losing my mind or something!  LOL!

  • Drives me insane when someone sticks a pen that doesn't work properly back into their lab coat at work.  Specially when I know I'll have to take something back to them for them to error correct in half and hour due to them using that POS pen again.

I've been trained to FIFO at work (First in, first out) so you can't open a new lot of anything until the other is completely gone.  Wish I could teach this to the people I live with!  The soda bottle with an inch in the bottom drives me INSANE!

  • I'm a pin nut! However if I find one that wont work I do toss it! Have a great Monday!

  • Because I do a lot of writing and doodling, I do try to get rid on non-functioning pens, etc.  Also, we move a lot, so that forces one to get rid of non-essentials.  But you know what?  I still love to buy schools supplies every August!!  I buy new crayons, markers, notebooks, filler and spiral paper, even scissors, pens and pencils!!  I LOVE school supplies, even though I am 50+...maybe that's why I have no problem throwing away the ones which don't work???  LOL

  • The pen usually gets thrown out, usually in frustration, sometimes from across the room, often missing the trashcan, lol,

I believe my son has an actual aversion to finishing the last of anything, cereal boxes are left with a spoonful in them, milk jugs with an ounce of milk, peanut butter & jelly jars, etc., etc. He's nearly 20, can't seem to break him, can't wait to see what his refrigerator and pantry look like...lol.

RYC: Thanks for stopping by, sis is feeling a little better, should have test results this week...Rainy

PS: Happy to leave the photo comments, expect more, have a great week.

  • ROFL... I throw them away... its about the one thing I don't have trouble throwing away. lol I have trouble finding a sharpened pencil... our cups are full of unsharpened ones. lol  I go through and sharpen them once a month and somehow they disappear and new never sharpened ones are in their place. lol Hmmm... '

I see you are unavailable and now I have ring of fire running through my head. lol Hope I catch you later.

  • Love your observation. I'd have laughed, too!

I've been known to put a dried-up pen back in the pen holder, but I hate it when people use the last of the shampoo and leave the bottle in the shower caddy.

  • I stick pens in my locker at work. When I get to work I put one or two in my pocket, then go to the unit. Sometimes I loose the pen/pens before the shift is over. Other times they get carried home in my pocket. Here it ends up in a cup on the bathroom counter. When I get in the mood to declutter, I grab these pens and take them back to work. Most of the time this works for me.

  • I am guilty of the second one when it comes to toothpaste, shampoo, etc....

  • I need to clean out some of my drawers too. I think when we have too many pens, some just dry up from non-use.

  • I will throw away anything that doesn't work.  That is why Doc Dingbat doesn't sit down for  a minute!

  • That drives me crazy.  I am especially irked when i see more than one box of cereal opened at a time, because that means it's all going to get "too stale" to eat.  Now that my daughter is no longer living her here it's not that much of an issue anymore.

  • i thinkn we tend to have a few empty pens floating around here.. our pens have legs so they're hard to keep up with anyways, lol:)

  • I keep some dead pens on hand to eject VHS tapes from my VCR, since my eject button doesn't work anymore.  I probe around looking for the sweet spot and the tape will eventually eject.

  • I missed that last part... I don't open new things until the old box is empty... I hate it when people put an empty milk carton back in the fridge...

My biggest pet peeve though is dtinking out of the milk jug... UGH...

  • Heck you just described my desk.....LOL................hope you have a good one............hugs.

  • I have so many pens and pencils because I am a sub, and if I see pens and pencils left after the kids leave class, I pick it up. I know that the janitors will throw them away. So I am not picky about throwing a pen away!

Now that it's just Doug and me, I am hoping that there will not be anymore empty containers in the pantry!!!

  • I try to be a thrower awayer, but sometimes I tend to hang on to stuff. I guess it's a habit from the years I taught primary school. I often keep things because every teacher knows you can't have too many broken crayons, buttons, pinecones, cotton balls, popsicle sticks, plastic containers with lids, etc. to use for art projects!

  • I just added cicada sound to my post if you would like to hear them ~

  • Happy day random eprops and five stars to a great sistah.

  • that's why for the longest time I HATED pens.

but now, I like them better then pencils, because you always have to sharpen pencils, and I get the one lead on my hands rubbing off on the paper easier then I do ink. . .

  • Pens that don't work...out!

New cereal boxes...only if it's not the same as the open box!

  • Actually, I LOVE to throw things away!!! My husband watches me to make SURE I don't throw his cereal away before he gets every crumb out : ) My Mom is scared for me to come clean for her in case there would be something she might miss someday.. hehe

RYQ: My dad... I don't know.. I haven't been able to find anything out. I want to pursue it again this week..... I just get the run around all the time SIGH. Thanks for asking!

  • that is what we said when we cleaned mom's house when we moved her to the retirement village. Throw it away

  • I am the only one who throws away anything - once I left an empty shampoo bottle in the shower just to see how long it would take, I finally couldn't stand it anymore.

  • Thanks for the comment. :)

  • I only toss pens that are absolutely dead...  But I must add, I have a particular kind of pen that I really love and I like to get all the "good" out of them.  I also hide them and only put crappy pens in the pen holder on my desk..  As for empty things, I toss them out.  I'm not a collector...

  • Ah...isn't human nature just wonderful to behold? I have many such pen jars. Not sure how many don't work. But like bonzo always says, you can never have enuf pens.

  • HOLY SHEEP!!! if the pen does not work, throw it away!

  • I tend to be a very disposable person.  I throw away anything that is laying around or not being used.

  • I throw the pens away if the trash can is handy, but usually I lose them long before they run out of ink.  THAT'S where I get wasteful.  Rather than look for something, I'll just buy another.

  • Throw them away? Not the way i lose them, they are lost long before i use them up.

  • You inspired my next blog, what kinda pen do I use....

So you are also late in writing to Donkey...his site is good for a response back to me....Maybe my pen blog will inspire someone else?

I wrote to Donkey that I got my little balls from crackerjacks....

Have a great week, hope you didn't take out any of those adjustable rate loans...

  • Too funny!

I love blue Pilot 0.7 G-2 gel pens but the clip is weak and often breaks before the pen is spent. I save the intact empties in hopes of repairing a future clip failure.

Last night I was rewarded. The clip on my current pen failed and I used up one of my 4 empties. (I tossed the broken one.)

I also drive the Doll mad by leaving empty food boxes on the counter. My thinking goes like this. Seeing the empty will alert her that the item is out and she can put it on her shopping list. She seems to think the household would run just fine with out said help. (Oh the burden borne by a thoughtful husband.)

  • throwing them away would make sense...

  • You said "boobs"!

    eh-eh-eh eh-eh-eh eh-eh-eh!

  • ^^^ Is he Beavis? Or Butthead?!? I never could tell the difference! Heh! Heh!

Unless they are refillable - they get thrown out - but they definitely get segregated from the working pens - usually when I throw them across the room! LOL!

  • I have a drawer FULL of pens.....some are over thirty years old!  Want to add them to your collection!  pfffffffffffffffffffffffft

  • I'm guilty of keeping unworking pens myself.  I don't know if I'm just hoping that one day they will magically work again or what!  lol  Thanks for stopping by!

  • RE::::
Hi, Beth!I think you love cute boy too(^3^)

Actually,,,I do not like throwing things because I feel upset about it.
(Am I crazy?!!I feel sad about these rubbish*)

  • I am so the thrower-away-er!  I hate finding a pen that doesn't work in the cup.

I also usually have a big box of GoodWill/garage sale things, and I try to take care of that about once a month.

  • I see you sneaking around! I'm learning how to do a slide show! If I get tangled up I might have to call and harrass you... lol so far so good though... I'm not looking forward to when I try to add sounds. lol

Hope all is well... we're all good here. ang

  • I've probably got about 6 open packages of pens at home, and yes, I always throw away the ones that don't work.

  • I have a few junk drawer that I just need to dump in the garbage.  But, who knows?  Maybe those things will come in handy!  LOL

  • Nope nope nope, But I cannot say never.

Moving often helps....I I have packed somethin twice and no one has used it since the first pack...it gets tossed.

  • The photo program I used to put on the edges of my photos was paint pro 9, I love it, but I think it's pretty old. I need to update it but I'm afraid I wouldn't know how to use it! LOL

    Mary

  • oh !  and the Lumberjack song !!!  My favorite !!

  • Good dang morning to you :)

I am afraid I am one of those people that open up a new box before the old is totally done. I have a quirk about eating or drinking the last bit of anything LOL just seems yucky to me. It's like anything sitting at the bottom can't be all that good for ya LOL

Pens I dont throw away either unless I am standing right by the garbage bin at the time, perhaps I await the pen fairy that comes when we sleep and she will refill them LOL Silly creatures we humans can be at times :)

Hope your Tuesday is a super wonderful one, God Bless xoxox Tynee

  • Hey girl,

Honestly, I do throw away pens that don't work and don't open new containers until ALL is used up LOL. Just wanted to say hi and hope you are having a great and blessed week.

    Hugs,,
    Jackie

  • How funny!  LOL  My mom is the hoarder of pens, especially those that don't work!  And my kids are the worst about opening a new box of cereal rather than finishing the almost empty one.  I have to admit I am bad about opening a new gallon of milk because I will not drink milk that has been opened longer than 2 days.  Everyone else will drink it, so there's sometimes a couple of gallons opened at once.  I guess we all have our quirks. :)

    Heather

  • I think I have a pen or two in my pen holder that does not work... But I do not open a new box when another still has something in it UNLESS, lets take cereal for example, I don't want fruity pebbles and the Smart Start is unopened. Then I just have to open the healthy one.

BTW - a little bird told me you had a birfday the other day - Happy Happy a little late!

  • HAHAHAHA. That is hilarious!

I'm a throw away junkie!!! I HATE keeping stuff. Although...I also hate throwing stuff that are still working away...so you can just imagine me finding a pen on the floor that is still working. I have 20 pens at home that are still working...I struggle to throw the found pen away, but end up keeping it...blah.

At least my fridge is empty.

  • I am guilty, I'll admit it-hehe!

  • Oh my God, I have such issues with hoarding! Pens are just another one of those hopeless things. It feel liberating but somewhat guilt-inducing to toss them!

    Thanks for the support!

  • Don't mind me... I'm just tracking footprints, checking out visitors of the day...

Glad you stopped by, have a great day!

  • Also, I am completely being driven nuts by flies...just had to share that with you1

  • Yes, old pens hit the trash can quick or if they don't write right. I don't like it when people open a new container of something before the old one is finished. I also don't like it when they use something up in the fridge and then don't replace it with a new one, like soda, bread, etc. LOL!

  • Did you have a happy Tudesday?

  • we run into that at work alot...hehehe  how bout the milk carton thats almost empty when you reach for it

  • I hate clutter lol but I admit I have a few old pens I keep at work. I leave them out on my desk so when someone wants to take a pen they get a bad one instead of one of my good ones :^)Those are in the drawer

  • I keep 10 or 30 pencils in a jar, all are unshapened except 1. So I have to pick out pencils until I find the one that is sharpened. LOL! Jackpot!

  • I would be a terrible pack rat if I threw it away, plus what would my kids have to burn or distroy if I tossed everything out? Happy Tudesday to you too.

  • I love this post!  I am convinced I am the only one in the house who throws away anthing that is empty or has run out.  I don't always throw away pens though.  I'll have to remember that.

  • I think if I had an office desk at work. I would fill my pen jar all with pens that didnt work, just so I can see people do that when they come into my office. LOL.

glad you liked the pics :)

  • Don't mind me... I'm just tracking footprints, checking out visitors of the day...

Glad you stopped by, have a great day!

  • no one has laid hands on me or annointed me, but i wish they would

  • Every time, but for some odd reason I save auto parts that I will never use. Think I still have a set of spark plugs for an old Ford wagon that we sold over 10 years ago.

  • thx!

and i know what you mean i hate it when people do that with toothpaste

  • Meteorology Man puts old dried up pens back in the organizer~~ and gives away the good ones to random chashiers.  I have to hide my stash of pens from him.  That and all my Cheetos.

I have a hard time not getting into a new box of cereal~~ when I already have two others opened.  And peanut butter.  I love being the first one to dip into a fresh jar of peanut better.  One that doesn't have remnents of random jellies and toast crumbs.  Tamy

  • I am guilty of the cereal boxes but not the pens!

    HAHAHA

    =]

hope you had a lovely day

  • Why do we do this? I do trhe same... I'm the worst with laundry soap containers. Today I'm going to start throwing them away!!! =)

  • Thanks for keeping some old memories alive.

  • I ALWAYS throw stuff out! Although with school stuff I have a bit more of an attachment and I hang on for a little longer, just in case.
