IDA
My 90 year old Mother-in-law Ida is an amazing woman.
I mentioned earlier in the Homemade Soap Post that she uses everything that would otherwise be thrown out.
She was born in 1916 to an Amish Mennonite family of eight children, there were six girls. She lived a life as a farmer's / pastor's wife. Her husband was a farmer who served the Mennonite church as a preacher ,in those days they were not paid. She is a mother of five and friend to the friendless. She worked as a nurse for 50 years, part of that time was as a Public Health Nurse, she visited the migrant camps. She has compassion for people like no one else that I know.
I wanted to make a video for the category of "Expressing Your Faith" in TheTheologiansCafe's Video Contest
I knew that Ida would have a wonderful testimony.
On a rainy day we sat on the porch,I did not know what she was going to say .This is a raw account of part of her story of hardship and healing. The first one is not for young children.PART I

I am going to come back and listen to this one when I get home in the morning. I know she is an interesting and real person. Can't hardly wait.
Have a good week!
I would love to read what she saying.. Maybe if you got the time.. you can type it up and send it to me via email..
If not.. No worries, I won't hold it against you.. Amazing that she lives that long.. My great aunt lived til she was 92 yrs old.. Funny thing she kept thinking she was 91 yrs old til they found her birth certificate which find out she was really 95!! lol
A most beautiful woman. We were so thrilled to meet her last week.
A true treasure on this earth.
Yes! Amazing woman! I miss my grandparents!
Wow, that was awesome. What an inspiration. Thank you for sharing that with us.
Awesomeness! She was born the same year as my Grandmother. They were tough back then. They knew how to survive hardship!
Hi Beth!! She truly is an amazing person. I am so blessed and lucky that I had the pleasure of meeting her in person. She truly is beautiful both inside and out. That is a gorgeous picture of her! She reminds me a lot of my late grandmother .. so sweet and caring .. always doing things for others. She lived until she was 98!
As incredible as your MIL is .. she adores you and thinks the world of you. I was so impressed at how she was quick to brag about how wonderful you are and how much she loves you!! I could never imagine my MIL saying one nice thing about me .. but then again, she's not a sweet and wonderful woman like Ida!! Tell her I said hello ... she probably will remember me, don't you think??
Have a wonderful day, Beth! Love you!!
Alicia

I'm telling you, the SALT OF THE EARTH is what you have in that woman! Amazing that her husband was a minister and not paid. Guess he was a "tent maker" like Paul? Now let me watch the videos...

We have to make another run that way soon so we will stop again. This time I will remember that I have your number in my cell phone!
I know....I cried when I saw Caron's closed. It was my birthday and D took me there and we saw the sign. I can't imagine any place as good as Caron's but I will give Aladdin's a try sometime. I miss that Greek food so much.
See you soon...I hope!
Hi Beth,
What a precious MIL and looks great for her age. I enjoyed her testimony so much. Just wanted to say hi and hope you have a great and blessed week.

Jackie

I will have to come back to listen to the videos.....my dearly beloved is watching the ball game on tv and I have the speakers turned off....Sometimes it just isn't easy sharing!
She does look a lot like our dearly departed Aunt Lucille...sweet lady.
ryc . . . hehe heheh ee . . . I hadn't heard the ULS term . . . I'm going to borrow that now . . . the term . . . I wear'm too, I love'm; I'm partial to Mephistos, tho; once they're molded, nothing feels so good on/under the foot.
Oh, well! You could probably get those socks and look just fine! Bony people need something to distract from the bones! LOL!
She is amazing! She is a very strong woman.
I got to meet her when we visited you!
carol misses you
Comparison and contrast: I was beaten up badly (but I did play a part in reaping my punishment. While Ida was innocently lead to a dreadful experience in which I can think of no reason why she deserved it.
I was licking my wounds and my ring finger was broken. I arrived home and my wife was gone too! At least Ida had a loving home to come home to. Someone took care of her and fortunately some friends decided to go out of their way to help me too.
Ida tries to help those who also suffered similar to her plight. (that is a healing process) I want to help other people who get beat up, but men usually try to tough it out on their own.
Sometimes comparisons is hard, how people cope with situations vary and if anything I will wonder what the father of Ida did to that man, and also wonder if that man was so callused that he never regreted it?
Such a special lady!
What an awsome blessing...
RYC..Yes, the ones you sent are still alive but getting a little worn looking...I will take a picture of them again soon...We have more flowers but I didn't want to look like a show off!!
Very cool..............blessings.............glad to be back.............hugs.
