Wacky Website Wednesday

http://www.museumofbadart.org/
I love "bad" art!!!
I love ART!!"Lucy in the Field with Flowers,"
the masterpiece that started it allSusan Lawlor was drinking a glass of coke last Friday, perusing
a copy of the Improper Bostonian, a weekly Boston,
newspaper. She turned the page and began reading an
article in the City Rave section called
"The Finest in Bad Art".
She glanced below at a picture of HER GRANDMOTHER
and spit coke all over the table.Lucy In The Field With Flowers,
MOBA's Mona Lisa --its first painting --
is in fact a portrait of Ms. Lawlor's late grandmother,
Anna Lally Keane.Ms. Lawlor called the museum
and arranged to come over, see the painting and tell us all about it.
The rest of the story is on their site.
May in the Mountains
Oil on board by Laevia Carson
Acquired by Scott Wilson from the Salvation Army Thrift Store
This quick study of spring in the Alps captures a reflective fleeting
moment at a scenic vista near an international border. The solid beauty
of the apple blossoms of, perhaps, France in the foreground contrasts
with dreams of Italian ice creams in the distant, suggested mountains. In the Cat's Mouth
Acrylic on canvas, probably by Pangorda
Acquired by Tom Stankowicz from the Children's Hospital Thrift Store
A comment on issues of power as experienced by those who dwell with feline pets. Is the artist consumed with or consumed by his love for this cat? Does he identify with the personality of the startling animal? Does the similarity between these inseparable cohabitants stop short at the nose? Or is he simply trying to observe a tree-lined avenue through a cat's eyes?
Johnny McGrory
Ceramic sculpture by Unknown
11"x14" circumferenc
Donated by the artist
With the innocence of an extra
terrestrial,
his arms in a straight jacket,
his flat cap a mortar board as
testament to
his wisdom. The little red man
cannot be quieted while something has
been left unsaid.Mama and Babe
Acrylic on canvas by Sarah Irani, 1995
Donated by the artist
The flesh tones bring to mind the top shelf liqueurs of a border bistro. With an astonishing emphasis on facial bone structure, the artist flirts with caricature and captures features of Mamma's face which remind us of a Presidential candidate. The upright marionettish pose of the babe hints that the early bond between mother and child is as formal as it is familiar. Good old fashioned parental respect is at the center of thiscelebration of color and contour.

What wonderful art. I appreciate you showing it. I love art. Judi
Those are some scary pieces of art! LOL
that's freaky!! LOL... uh... don't bring those to my house.
hummmmm... very..... interesting.....
Don't you paint or something? I thought I remembered you saying that you did.. course, I have been known to be wrong, too... ha!
Have a happy Wednesday...
Hugs!
Connie
I'm witting for your letter : )
http://www.gallery-worldwide.com/index.html
Here also have the art XD
My husband and I go to a lot of thrift stores, and I am always showing him ugly things and then we have a snicker about them and make a few remarks like, "Here's someone else who should never have been allowed to hold a paintbrush!" Bad art is everywhere, and it's cheap! LOL! One can only shake one's head and think WHAT WERE THEY THINKING??????? I guess the drive to express oneself artistically often has nothing at all with the actual ability to do so. Thanks for sharing! :- )
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?
That last one with the mom and child...SCARY! Can you imagine that "delightful" painting in the hallway in the dark night? Horrors! I guess you could always hang that up in the guest bedroom, the guest that won't go home! LOL
Mama and Babe is a little scary . . . but I actually like Lucy.
Sorry you had to apply all the xanga locks . . . unfortunately, this'll keep many in Xangaland from enjoying your posts (I believe the locks prevent you from being featured on front page). I used to get a lot of odd hits like that too, mostly from searchbots. Applying the locks did the the job for me.
i like May in the mountain since that my birth month..lol
have a good day
My doodleling looks better than this art work... but then my doodleling gets thrown away so who am I to say. One patient did want me to autograph her doodled cup this week.
It must be the taky in me but I like BAD art. lol I especially like the cat one. lol
Thanks for findin them Beth. I hope you got some sleep last night. Ang
As The Doll said, we have access to a lot of the type of art this museum is looking for. Perhaps we could be employed by them to extend their collection. Hmmm?
I could sing to that art work! Mi! Mi! Mi! Mi!
Well, maybe not! LOL! have a great Wednesday!
Looks like beginners for sure.....but still way better than I could do. I haven't an artistic bone in my body.
Those are interesting art pieces.
I kinda like the last one.. it has a freakish creativity to it.
these works kinda of remind me of a quick stroll through an elementary school's art gallery on display in the hallways- abstract art didn't come from adults.. no no no! 2 year olds hold the original title to wacky art- and they do so with pnash! I can't wait for my little doodlehead to litter the front of my refrigerator with her masterpieces...
as for these works, i wonder if they'd look any better if they were flipped upside down... i've actually seen an improvement in people's faces when they're upside down.. it's worth a try...
I like the first painting a bunch, but have to concur with the sentiments of everyone else about the last.
RYC: Thank you very much...I don't know how I am going to get by without his smiling face everyday.
Great post! The last one reminds me of some creatures from Star Trek!
I like Lucy!! I actually kinda like the cat one too, LOL... but I love the descriptions... I keep telling 21 he has to up his BS factor when talking about his work... he has to have all kinds of angst and anger in why he chose his colors and have off the wall inspirations for why he did it... its the only thing that stands between him and certain fame! LOL
That. Is. Horrendous. What were they thinking? Lucy in the field is especially horrible.
I love art of any kind. Bet I could make that museum with my own paintings .
Oh boy!!!!
Interesting pieces.... Not particularly something I would want hanging in my home. I think today I'll pull together some of my photo's and arrange them on the wall above my new hanging candles.
Hugs'n'Smooches!
Happy Wednesday: There not great but still better then I can do lol.
The cat picture reminds me of this old Fraggle Rock episode for some odd reason.
Love it! I have a meeting now but will look some more later.
lol those are so scary they're great lol
haha the awesomeness of ridiculous paintings. But then again, why should they be labeled bad? Art is free form of expression. Why is abstract art considered beautiful and "bad" art not? I say "bad" because I don't know how else to classify the art works you have put in your entry.
The story about the grandmother is hilarious! The thing I like about these art works is that they are unafraid to use wild colors and interpret them in any way they wish. If you have ever seen psychotic paintings, they might reveal the same patterns. I'm not saying anything about these works though
i am forced to price up bad art at work...
apparently, all you have to do is call it art and its worth something.
makes my eyes hurt.
anyhoo, i agree that some things should be left to just go, and thank you! i try to be a good friend, and i think most of the time i succeed. at least i hope i do.
<3
p.s. i think youd be a good friend too.
I love Wacky Website Wednesday!!! Interesting art!
I wouldn't want any of them in my home! Teehee!
Hey, I hope you are doing well! Things have been crazy and busy at the 'Nest"!!! I'm finally getting around to visiting!
Happy Spring to you, sweet girl!
Hmmmmmmmm.....makes me feel a little better about some of my "experiments" & other projects.....
the pillsbury doughboy with a beret!
Those descriptions are funnier than the paintings! That was fun!
Okay, I was wrong about the painting... ha! I told you that I have been known to be wrong every once in awhile... not often, but sometimes! ha!
Hugs!
Yes! Flash has some very interesting experiments!
I personally like anything painted on velvet!
RYC- I always wondered why they called it a sock hop. If you try to dance in socks, someone is going down!!
Wow, I think I could do better than that-lol! Glad you shared.
Hahaha, they do look bad, but who are we to judge? Eye of the beholder, and all that.
This bad artwork is still WAY better than anything I can do!!! I can't even draw a decent stick figure!!!
I hope all is well with you, Beth!!!! I bet you are busy in the greenhouse and things are really starting to bloom!!!!
I hope you are having a humpalicious hump day!!
Alicia
i could do that!
The orange cat I find disturbing...

I
your Wednesdays...
Scary
yucky artwork there.......but probably as good as Id do!!!hehehehe...how are ya doing Beth?
That was very interesting!! How did you find that site??? I still have a little clay cup Elita made me when she was 3. Maybe I will take a picture of it and put it on tomorrow's entry.
I liked the Lucy painting and had to go read what the granddaughter filled the museum in on. Pretty interesting article of the piece that started it all.
Thanks for sharing. She looks like a sweet grandmother doesn't she?
ryc - i didn't tell you? (i'm such a nerd). we were going to go with cork, but at the last minute we went with bamboo. it's really really nice!
I hope you don't mind, but I won't be borrowing any of this artwork for banners.
Huh-LAIR-ius
ryc, yes I did..how did the tests go then....does that seem to make your more tired or not?
Good morning!
interesting it is!!! happy Wednesday! =)
Art is subjective and beauty can be found in almost anything....if you look hard enough ^_^ I love these pictures of such different and creative art. Beauty is certainly in the eyes of the beholder!
Not often am I dumbfounded for words, the first one could possibly be hangable and the rest gets further from being hanged and more closer to being tossed into the trash.
I guess your planting work is taking more priority and subsequently you are devoting less time to your blog?
Last night/early morning I was watching the movie Mame with Lucile Ball. I feel asleep and missed seeing the nephew growing up and the movie ended like a bad painting to me. Anyway the point I am trying to make is that sometimes art needs a history to be treasured....
I had something kinda like that grandma painting thing happen to me...but it was my PARENTS. Bwhahahhaaa!
