Meeting CynaraJane
Meeting CynaraJane!!
For Christmas my husband gave me "A Three Day Trip To Anywhere" . I had been wanting to go see our "Amish Cousins " in HOLMES COUNTY, OHIO again .I was especially happy about going to Ohio because I knew that CJ lived there also . We have become good friends thru Xanga and I really wanted to meet her in person.
I was so excited waiting for her knock on the door of our hotel room! When I finally met her it was like I've always known her.I felt so at home with her .We had the pleasure of meeting her children Far_Skies, Ninja_Pirate_Chick, and Taningco, who are all especially beautiful and bright.I enjoyed being with them. When I met her mother the first thing that I noticed was the love she is filled with,it even extended to me.
CJ,her children ,Dave and I went out to eat on Fri. night to a Mexican Restaurant.I has some GUACAMOLE!!!I
I tasted Far_Skies, squid (She made me)it was in her "Seafood Fajitas" , it was good. HERE is CJ 's post of the dinner and HERE is Far_Skies post.
On Sat. my husband went to see a friend in Cincinnati . CJ and I went here (check out the name of this place!!) for breakfast.
for
Then we went to the store that CJ's Mom calls "Cheap Thrills".
Things were a lot cheaper at this Goodwill than they are here at home.Children's clothing were $1 at home $3.49. Women's dresses were $1.95 at home $6.95,unless that color price tag is on sale or you go to the "The Clearance" where everything is 50¢ a piece.
We found our "Cheap Thrills"
CJ found a Photoshop manual and I found an old Reading Primer for 49¢ to add to my collection. I also got a book to do a post about...just wait!!
It was hard to say goodbye so soon but I am trusting that we will met again before too long.
We drove to Millersburg in Holmes County to see the cousins .We took them some of our Sauer Kraut,I asked them if they made it, figuring that they did. They said "No,We just can't seem to get it right" ,I was glad that I had something to take to them that they really liked! They remind me of the sisters in "Arsenic and Old Lace" except of course there are no dead bodies buried in the basement. We were treated to the best meal which was served with homemade bread, jelly and corn relish and locally made Baby Swiss Cheese. We listened to stories handed down thru the generations and checked out the weather report on their battery operated Weather Radio(they have a natural gas deposit on their land and use it for lighting and to run appliances like the refrigerator and stove)We signed their Guestbook and hugs were passed out and then we were on our way again.
We hit snow on the way home driving thru the mountains and Coal Regions of Eastern PA,it was slippery coming down those huge hills!!The snow followed us home and we have our first snow of the season!!
I had the best time and I know that there are many more friends from Xanga to meet yet...

You husband knows how to give a good gift!!
Wow~~ that Goodwill looks pretty upscale! I do tend to struggle with thrift shop envy. sigh I used to have a school book collection~~ needed to give it away before we left NY. I had a couple from the same series as the green and red one. Keep collecting for the both of us!! So glad you had a fun time~~ even though you did eat guacamole without me. Tamy

Glad to hear you had a good time. There are lots of us Xangans in Ohio.
*sparkle
ryc: Ha! that's great about Spock. I had this idea, for a Sunday school class I'm teaching, showing Spock's similarities to Jesus. Thankfully, for all I'm sure, I gave up on the idea
I love squid and the goodwill thing sooo funny, I have been soo sick I was off and in bed for 2 days.
I hope all finds ya well
How great that you got to meet CJ and her kids! I've met three Xangans so far, and they were just as nice in person as on here. Looks like you had a lot of fun in that three days!
Kathi
Suddenly I am hungry for pancakes. I would love to meet half a dozen people from Xanga, CJ and yourself being among them. Some people I enjoy but really am not sure I'd want to meet. Its got to be exciting to see what some people are really like. Glad you got the experience. Hope you had a wonderful weekend and of course a great day today! - Bek
Iwould have missed you had I not I kept track of your adventure through various sources.
Wow...how exciting...a journey you had. Meeting those you did. Sounds like a truly beautiful experience was had by all.
I'd love a xanga friends meeting. Maybe Xanga should organise something every year. Glad you enjoyed it so much.
RYC: Thanks for your visit to my site. Cat's image of me may be too optimistic, just like me describing Cat would probably be too optimistic too.
It sounds like you had a really wonderful trip...we have relatives in the Dayton area and I always enjoy visiting there.
Glad that you are home safe. The weather was not the best for traveling. We have a lot of snow here now..It is pretty and white and the sun is out so it looks like a winter wonderland.
That's awesome! I am hoping to meet a few of my Xanga pals in the spring.
Your trip sounded like such fun! I love visiting older relatives and hearing their stories of days gone by.
Glad you made it home safely!
hahaha you're so funny...you never know, you probably do have a taurus somewhere in there. yeah that sounded like it should be you with the greenhouse.
im fine, we are waiting for some rain sometime this evening...i wont hold my breath though.
i wanted to go antique mall crawling, this weekend, but the place i used to love to go to, looks like s dump now. i have to go check it out soon...
take care
i know you girls didnt take any homegirl pics?
hey lucky girl you:
you know i was so wrapped up in your story about you meeting Lisa, i forgot to tell you what a sweetie your husband was with his Christmas gift.
Thats so cool you got to meet yr xanga friend CJ. I keep wondering what that would be like. Kev
It IS so great meeting fellow Xangans, isn't it?? I hope I have the opportunity to meet some more of my friends someday.
WOW .. I can't believe the GW prices are so much lower than here. I used to take students there for job training and I noticed that they recently raised the prices. They are MUCH cheaper in Ohio.
Glad you had a great time .. hope you have a wonderful week!!
Alicia
Wow!! I need to find that Good Will!
love the way you tell the story of your trip
At last you admit it. Now all you have to do is kill yourself.
Not necessarily! You might just have a stroke and lie in a bed for years, wasting the valuable time of doctors and nurses who could be caring for people who might have a future. You should kill yourself now, just to be sure. I recommend suicide by cop.
I hope you reprorted that piece of shit ^^^^ I sure did after he left disgusting comments on my site today....I deleted it & blocked him....
I am glad you got to meet her and see the person(s) behind yhe blogs.
Suicide by cop is easy, and I know how fat people like to expend as little energy as possible.
what a great present................................
I am so thrilled that you had a great time!
Have a great week, Beth.
-Steff
WOW...........what a trip and Holmes is only about 12 miles from my house.....glad you made it back safe n sound.......have a great week
It sounds like great fun. You were probably close to me when you went through the coal regions. And I was shocked at first when I saw Millersburg, because that's the town I work in. But then I saw you were talking about Ohio.
Oh! You had fun! Good! I hear hot chocolate calling!
Thanks for stopping by...I've been around for about a year now...No where near the readership you have, but of course, Lisa hasn't been able to help me with my blog yet...she's been too busy schmoozing with the featured content visitors! Nice to meet you!
Yes! Its calling again!
ryc: good point Beth... Might have to fix that. lol Ang
Sounds like you had a great time. I missed that stop on my way back from Chicago.
I'm glad you had such a great trip. Our GW prices are high too! We've found a shop in my hometown that has great prices and lots of antiques (and just plain junk) but that's the fun of it! I got my son and DIL a king mattress and box springs for $100 NEW so thought that was a deal. Glad you got your first snow. We're still looking for ours. Maybe Thursday??
Beth... ben1972... is my hubby. lol I think he's caught a bit of my addiction. lol Ang
Love Holmes Cy. Been there many times. It's much more touristy now than it was years ago but...always a fun place to go.
That trip sounds amazing. most of my friends here (including yourself) are from USA and I am so very far away!!
I was stting here reading your post thinking the woman singing sounds like Aretha Franklin, well of course duh!!! LOL.
Sounds like it was a wonderful trip. It is always fun to finally put a "real person to the Xanga person.
YEA! sound's like lots of fun!
glad that you had such a wonderful time with CJ and glad you made ithome safely!
haha thats so awesome that the whole family has xangas
Oh... I am sooo envious of your traveling! What fun!
You have given me a wonderful thought... maybe, when I sell here, I could do a trip and visit some xanga friends. How would that be for a wonderful break??
I think I am getting a little excited ate the thought of it!
Have a great day sweetie...
Love, Denny
Have you been able to recover from your road trip yet? Hope you had a wonderful day!
