  • Be more Specific!

    I needed a new battery Saft LS 14250 3.6 Volt 1/2 AA Lithium Battery  that is an odd size so I took it to Radio Shack .
    There was an  Al Roker     Applesauce makin' dddd  look-alike who  was  busy with  a personal phone call  but assured me he would be right with me .
    In about ten minutes he made kissy noises into the phone and hung up,he smoothed out his clothing ,cleared his throat and then was all business.I handed him the battery that I needed to replace and he soon found a new one .I paid $24   and went out to my car.I was surprised that a 1 inch battery could be so expensive.I took the new one out of the bag to compare it to the old one and realized that it was slightly different...
    I knew that had been too easy.....back into the store to look for Al.
    I found him and said "This is the wrong size battery"....does he say
    "Oh,let me see if I can find the right one" or "I am sorry" or "Let's see what we can do about that".Nope! He says "Ma'am,next time please BE MORE SPECIFIC!".I said "I handed you the old battery,how much more specific can I get?" He found the right one for me and I was out of there in a few minutes,I have yet to return.

    I spent the early part of the day with my mom going thru fabric that was given to us from a woman who quilted with fabric samples....did you know that there are some fabric samples that are so ugly they hurt your eyes?
    Guess what I will post pictures of tomorrow?

  • There is an Al lookalike that comes into the gym.. I bet it's the same guy since we're so close! Is he pre-surgery Al or post-surgery Al?

  • Haha how old did he look? I swear he has to be the same guy at the gym. Did he have the glasses and all?

  • LOL  Too funny!!  Kissy Kissy

    Can't wait to see the fabric samples!!

    Having sixties today~~ ice storm heading in tomorrow night~~ lovely time for our daughter's wedding!  LOL  God is so amazingly funny.  He knows we moved to Oklahoma to get away from this stuff~~ I can see Him laughing and shaking His head at me, as I try to manuvuer these iced over roads~~ while dressed in my Mother of the Bride attire and old lady updo.  sigh  Gotta laugh!  Tamy

  • YES YOU ARE BACK!!!

    That was not really heart warming though! LoL !!

  • Darn....... this guy's older.. Al's age.. :)

    Anthawanth was dismayed that you would not be here to post something heartwarming and I told him I would post somethng heartwarming for him if you weren't back. He then told me you were back and I was not needed now. LOLOLOLOL

  • glad you got your power back:) funny story- don't ya love sales jerks..oops i mean clerks?! looking forward to your next post:)

    glad you got your power back on =D

  • what a customer service he have there! atleast you got what u came for that good enough.

  • You could have at least said "hey, numbskull, please be sure to get the battery that is just like this one, but new." I guess that would have been more specific!

  • Oh, I think he needs a spanking. Handing him the old battery should have been enough.

    Glad you're phone company at least was on the ball!
    *sparkle

  • RYC: I call my dog puppy toes.
    *sparkle

  • I can't wait. I love fabric! Even ugly ones. lol It is more fun to make something ugly look beautiful! Sorry about the guy at the store... some people are just dopes...

    Have a nice night. Ang

  • Ha that's funny... lorilily went to radioshack today to get a replacement battery for our 14 year old portable phone... ($13.99)

    But I know how poor costomer service can leave me feeling. If I am not satisfied with having recieved what I consider to be at least the bare minimum of courtesy and helpfulness, I will never (really mean never) return to that establishment again. Considering there are no monopolies, I always have other choices. But I do forgive a person for having a bad day... and I can usually tell the difference between a bad day and a bad corporate attitude.

  • Be more specific???  Geez .. that was rude!!  Afterall, you DID give him the old battery!!  Al needs to learn some customer service skills or next he will be saying "would you like fries with that??"

    I can believe there is fabric so ugly that it hurts your eyes!!!  Atleast in a quilt, it's only a small part of it .. can't wait to see the picture!!

    I was so excited to see the snow yesterday!!  Too bad it didn't last and didn't amount to anything .. but it was pretty!!!  I hope you are having a relaxing evening!! you!!  Alicia

  • RYC: Oh, sorry. I have a broken sesamoid bone in the bottom of my foot and it is at the base of my big toe.
    *sparkle

  • Whatever happened to "the customer is always right"??  That guy was rude.  Customer service these days isn't what it used to be....

  • I like Hot (for the most part) but then I wouldn't be able to share with lorilily, who is very sensative to "heat", so mild would be best! And thank you.

  • oh man..this song has me dancing so old school right now.

    Woooo Wee!!!

  • lol:  Specific..... excuse me...... why don't you just do his job for him!  Some men!  All the good help is not at Radio Shack.... 'course must be 'cause we don't work there! :)

  • It annoys me to no end when sales folks are on personal calls like that, ignore the customer, and screw up royally.  You were quite nice.  I don't know that I'd be so nice . . .
    ryc . . . how am I?  I'm tired!  Haven't slept well this week, have to crash early but just cannot do it until Gray's Anatomy's over!  Heading out to St.Pete in the wee hours of the am tomorrow with Pimie for the super super's surprise g'bye lunch.  So sorry, no more whining.

  • Got to love those sales folks without a clue..  I can't wait to see the fabric..  It always makes me wonder what people were thinking when I see the ugly fabric that was created....

  • You are hilarious and I LOVE   your blog. I made that chicken pot pie... a huge success with 4 kids and a husband. Thank you

    Patricia

  • What an idiot! RYC: I agree and did the same.

  • i learned my lesson with RSand Al a long time ago although my Al was more of the Al Bundy type...he was a shit

    ryc: I agree the diet for you is cheese....hehe

  • What a jerk of a sales clerk!  I love your music!!!

  • Oh! You are a bird herder! LOL! Aloysius_son says I am in charge! I will have to find his chocolate stash! LOL!

  • They fixed your internet! cool!  LOL at the Al look alike... be more specific? Sure , specifically you're a butt head, Mr. Roker! LOL... Sorry, I have had my fill of idiot people lately! LOL...

  • What ever happened to the customery is always right?

  • I love naan, too!! I haven't made any yet, but I know how to now!! I'm definitely going to start with spinach & potato naan. It's my favorite!!! I really like any kind of bread, though!

  • P.S. You really should have been more specific about the battery. KIDDING!! Maybe he should consider a different profession, like a telephone operator..??

  • are you kidding me?! he said that?! how rude! ugggggggggggggh. *smacks him silly from a distance*

  • OMG!! What a major dill hole!!!
    I HAVE seen fabrics that bad...ouch my eyes!!

  • Glad you're back! I would have lost it on the guy. I hate that! Why is it so difficult for people to admit when they make mistakes? I have to tell you Beth. I'm really doubting that you actually have fabric that hurts your eyes. I can't wait. I have to see this.

  • Ahh... such customer service. Gotta love it. I'm still trying to subscribe to you... still no luck... I will try from a different computer at some point! :)

  • Sounds like you were about as specific as you could get to me.

    ryc: thanks for your response.

  • don't you just hate incompentant people who want to blame their incompetance on you.  I'm a firm believer that "STUPID PEOPLE SHOULDN'T BREED".

  • Greetings , nice post !

    Blessings,

    Tip

  • I have some of that fabric your talking about from my mother.    So bright that you dont know where you can use it.   It doesnt match anything anywhere.    If you have fabric you cant use I will take it.   I love to sew.

    Water aerobics is kinda fun and relaxing.   Although you feel like a fool doing some of the exercises.

  • I think I've dealt with that guy before too!   I love your response to him! Hey, I hope you have a great Friday,

  • Oiy! Some sales people need to have "customer service" defined for them!

  • I did textile design as my art medium of choice for many, many years. I would LOOOOVE to see those fabric samples that made your eyes hurt!

  • Love ya, Beth. Radio Shack seems to not be a great place for service, though in the end he did find what you needed.  Also, thankfully, you didn't drive home and try it in you whatever, before discovering it was not exactly right.  Thats the Pollyanna in me, always trying to see the best in a situation.  God is growing that in me!!!  Yay, God!! I want to ask you to pray for a couple of girls who are struggling with growing up.  I believe God may have a role for me as mentor, but am not sure.  Please pray for clarity for them and for me on this issue, and for relationships in their life.  Also, please pray for Becky and for my relationship with her.

    Your online friends are cool, and fun.

    Hiya, online friends of Beth.  I am an old church friend of Beth's.  Blessing to you all.

  • LOL

    RYC: No, definatly do not like the smell of cat pee.

  • I think it may be... I guess we have to wait til she gets home from work now....

  • OK Beth,

    Thanks, Diane

  • We had dropped our membership at the YMCA, but rejoined in Dec of 06.  I don't think that we get there often enough to warrant the cost, but Dave thinks it is worth the $70 a month for about 2ce weekly visits, so I bow to his wishes.  Let me see, that is almost $20 a visit.  Arghhhh.

  • Don't you hate when that happens?!!  Can't wait to see the fabric samples.  Have a blessed day.

  • $175 for a rash medicine!  HOLY CATS BATMAN!!!!!  WOW     And I was going to attempt some new pics and maybe a new profile pic, but.... alas... I'm rashy and I don't want a rashy pic of me up.  Plus I burned the skin off my chin with hot pizza sause.  LOL  I'm a mess.  But I thought of you and your nice compliment to me about a new skinny pic.  I'm not sure my FACE is all that skinnier, but my belly is.  WOO HOO  I don't think I want a belly pic for my profile shot either.

  • I just came back from an eye appointment and the girl giving me an eye test was talking to her 12 year old daughter on her cell while giving me the eye test!  There just seems to be something wrong with that!

  • This is a recipe for garlic naan I got from http://www.allrecipes.com and whatever you want to put in it [spinach, potatoes, garlic, cilantro, etc.] you just add into the mixture and cook it inside of the dough.

    My boss also gets pre-made pita bread with the pockets in it. You can open it up and put anything you want in it and bake, grill, or fry it for around 2 minutes. It tastes just as wonderful as naan, & is easy to make!!

    INGREDIENTS

    * 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
    * 1 cup warm water
    * 1/4 cup white sugar
    * 3 tablespoons milk
    * 1 egg, beaten
    * 2 teaspoons salt
    * 4 1/2 cups bread flour
    * 2 teaspoons minced garlic (optional)
    * 1/4 cup butter, melted

    DIRECTIONS

    1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand about 10 minutes, until frothy. Stir in sugar, milk, egg, salt, and enough flour to make a soft dough. Knead for 6 to 8 minutes on a lightly floured surface, or until smooth. Place dough in a well oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and set aside to rise. Let it rise 1 hour, until the dough has doubled in volume.
    2. Punch down dough, and knead in garlic. Pinch off small handfuls of dough about the size of a golf ball. Roll into balls, and place on a tray. Cover with a towel, and allow to rise until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
    3. During the second rising, preheat grill to high heat.
    4. At grill side, roll one ball of dough out into a thin circle. Lightly oil grill. Place dough on grill, and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until puffy and lightly browned. Brush uncooked side with butter, and turn over. Brush cooked side with butter, and cook until browned, another 2 to 4 minutes. Remove from grill, and continue the process until all the naan has been prepared.

  • shheesh...what a jerk!

    You are two years younger than me!

  • Do you think of Elvis when it's your birthday?  I watched his funeral a few days ago - I really don't know why but I did.

  • I think the salesperson needs to get a life!!

  • Ah, you just reminded me I need to buy some batteries too!!

    I hope you are having a wonderful and relaxing weekend!!! Alicia

  • Hope you have a fantastic weekend.........stay warm.......and dry........hugs.

  • My daughter and I went into such a Radio Shack for an item and we were greeted by Mr. Know-it-all who knew nothing. Not only that, he was arrogant in his ignorance. My daughter was about ready to take his advice when I pulled her out the story, explaining that the guy was worthless.

    We went out of are way to another shop and a kind person got our business. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

  • "Well let me be more specific this time.  Stop sucking phone face with your girlfriend and actually look at the ORIGINAL BATTERY I brought in."

    Me...I wouldn't have gotten that far.  I would have made him hang up and after going back with the wrong battery and being told to be more specific I would have said something along the lines of "How specific is this...You...Go...Get...Your...Manager.  That would be the guy in charge of you"   See how he likes that specific-ness.

    I have to say that is some truly ugliness.  Maybe if you cut them in VERY small pieces they might make a cute mosaic quilt.  Good luck on that though.  Damn that material rubbed on some serious ugliness.
