Making Wreaths and Bows
I love working with evergreens and and the smell of fresh cut pine.I will be spending most of my spare time making wreaths from now until Christmas.I use a lot of different cut greens Douglas Fir,White Pine,Juniper,Balsm Pine,Blue Spruce,Boxwood,Arborvitaes...Some I cut myself, some we get at the local produce auction and some from a tree farm.I use 'metal clamp rims' as a base for the wreath, they come
in different sizes
and shapes.
I use a clamp machine that has a foot petal all attached to a table
The clamp
closes the prongs of the metal rim around the greens.
If a wreath is 14" wide ,it has 14 prongs.
I will decorate a few of the wreaths with pine cones
and Lady Apples.
I will also be making lots and lots ofbows!!!!
I apologize ahead of time for not being able to comment everyone like I usually do because of the Greenhouse work .I will also be tired because of the Benadryl
that I have to take to prevent
the awful rash that I get from the evergreens! (TMI???)O' the life of a Greenhouse Owners Wife!

You are just full of talents. They sound amazing and wish I could buy one from you. Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving.
Don't work to hard.
wow, that's quite a project! i guess you're rather efficient at it anymore! glad you're home- have a happy thanksgiving:)
random question: since you're a fellow PA gal, I wondered if you happened to know how to make shoofly pie- my husband had some at my grandma's a couple years ago and he's craving it for turkey day- but we will be at his parents' who don't know of that recipe- i want it to be like my grandma makes it so i figured i'd ask a person who actually lives in the state
That looks like a lot of work. Hope you can have a little fun too.
Wow~~ I learn so much from your site~~ I have NEVER seen a clamp machine before~~ didn't even know it exhisted! Even with your machine~~ still sounds like a lot of work~~ but fun!! Hope to see photos of the finished product!!
If we were still in NY~~ I would be making plans to come to the Poinsetta Show. sigh. First time since we've been in Oklahoma, that I actually regret not being in NY. LOL Have fun!! Tamy
Happy Thanks Giving to you. Work before Pleasure, it will be worth it in the end.
Is there anything you can't do, Beth? That is so cool!! I never knew there was such a table...I'd imagine it sure speeds the job along, and gives your pedal foot and leg a good workout!
Tonight is pizza night here, btw.
mmmm, evergreens smell so nice!!
hugs sis!
that looks like a really cool process...
I also love the smell of fresh greens. We still go out and get a nice big fresh tree at Christmas time and put fresh greens around the house...Have yourself a wonderful day and a Happy Thanksgiving!
I don't like the smell of pine.. but I bet your wreaths are beautiful!!!
Hi . . . sis-n-law . . .
They sound wonderful.
When thankee's boy were cub scouts we would buy a fresh wreath from them.
I love the smell of pine.
Have fun!
you are such a busy bee!!!!
have a wonderful thanksgiving beth!!!
Yeah for the Open House!
LOL on the superglued tooth. I know on their early campaigns..they superglued a car to some ceiling.
No need for apology!!
I was planning on coming by and wishing
you a Happy Thanksgiving today and to leave
you this little poem...
If Turkeys Thought
If turkeys thought, they'd run away,
A week before Thanksgiving Day.
But turkeys can't anticipate,
And so there's turkey on my plate!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!
(((hugs)))
I am so glad I was able to brighten your day! I hope you have a wonderful holiday. We'll all miss you!
Yes! I love the smell too - but all the females around this house claim they are allergic to the stuff - so I do not get to smell much of it!
Thanks for the Wacky Website! I feel special! I just got back from driving my kids to the Arizona state line so they could spend Thanksgiving with their other side (ie the father's side) and I popped in and saw this. I also bookmarked the page so when I get off work I can check it out.
Are you going to post pics of the finished product?
Have a nice Thanksgiving!
You are so talented, Beth!! I bet your wreaths are lovely!! I can't wait to visit your greenhouse!! RYC: Last year, I had a lot of opportunities to take students to Kings for "consumer skills". Unfortunately, I haven't been there once this year. I always think of you when I'm driving to work ... well, soon I'll get to meet you in person!!! *yippee*
Have a wonderful Turkey Day!!
Alicia
I love the smell of evergreens, too, but I don't think I would like to smell it all day every day for a month or more! I'll bet the wreaths are wonderful, though. We all do what we gotta do, right? Happy Thanksgiving!
Awww! Maybe the Benadryl is working too well! LOL! When I was a little girl, I can remember feeling sad about something and my Dad putting his finger under my chin and lifting my head up. I always think of that when I read that verse about God being the lifter of my head. I pray you will find the strength you need to make it through all you have to do, and that there will also be times of rest when you can relax and enjoy the holidays. You must feel like you are even making wreaths in your sleep! Whew!
Will do! Here, have some e-chocolate. (I'd advise you to go enjoy some of the real stuff as well
)
God bless! I shall be praying.
Evergreens make my skin break out & get itchy, too, but I wouldn't give up the chance to breathe in those wonderful smells just to avoid a little rash. Our daughter has bigger troubles than that though--sometimes she can't breathe too well around that kind of stuff...
ryc: I am in retail so you probably won't be hearing any complains from me about not getting comments from you....
Hey Beth, from my familia to yours, "Happy Thanksgiving!"
God Bless
That was rather entertaining, thank you
Have a happy Thanksgiving

Hey Beth....Oh dear...my skin breaks out too among the greens. Itchy and full of pin size holes....
But being groggy from benadryl is worse for me...that knocks me out totally.
I just bought the brand new James Taylor Christmas CD...I like it but it got bad reviews...oh well...my review was better.
I want to learn how to make those bows!!!
RYC:I don't have a banner yet but I think it will be under construction as soon as the Jeep is finished.
Have a Blessed Thanksgiving Beth!!!! :spinning:
Well...that didn't work...it's supposed to be a spinning smilie.
Hmmmmm....how about this:
Oh I wish I had time to sit around and do nothing all day and then make up excuses as to why I wasn't viviting all my xanga friends...
Oh wait I do have time to sit around and do nothing all day.... right after I fix the muffler on the car and finish packaging up my deer... I think I'l watch some football, and tell everybody I had to rake leaves...
Oh drat... I do have to rake leaves....
Oh this comment is spiralling downward at a rapid pace
Time to bail...
Ah, Greenhousen'.. Just got done w/ a couple hundred centerpieces and, yes, here come the wreaths and grave logs - (i'm allergic to everything t
)
Cool Craft idea!..........BB61 does a really good job on the Liberty Call girls don't you think?...........I think we need to tell him we need t-shirts now!
My computer is shot so I had to kick my daughter off her's to come by and wish you a happy Thanksgiving. Sherri
Happy Thanksgiving to you too!!!
Wow, thats some interesting trivia..
My god, imagine a 15 foot snow.... how would you get out of the front door?
I don't want to see what parts of your body has a rash on it... really, I don't.
Cool didn't know what a "jiffy" was. But yea hope your rashes clear up quick. Have a happy Thanksgiving.
JEss
Beth, New Star Shining is one of my favorite Christmas songs!! I love it. Thanks for putting that on your site. I've had such a hard time finding it on an album, etc. I believe James Taylor would make anyone sound good. Love him! HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!
wonderfully produced entry as always...
Have a fabulous day today, may thanksgiving be wonderful...
aww thanks, happy thanksgiving to you too! (well, happy belated thanksgiving now)
My thanksgiving was over a month ago now, as I'm Canadian, but I've celebrated the american thanksgiving more then I have the one here.
What a brilliant Post. 'Happy Thanksgiving' to you and yours.
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. Your work looks great!
I envy you so much! My husband and I used to 'talk' about having an evergreen farm and a small shop on site to sell the fresh evergreen wreaths as well as Christmas wreaths of dried flowers and berries. We also made wood items such as shelves, cabinets and the like. You are so close to living what we had often dreamed of doing, I'm in awe when I read your posts..
One of my kids was born in December and one of the arrangements I got had evergreen in it. I still remember waking up the day after she was born and the smell of Christmas. I love that smell! You have such a great job...
RYC- backatcha, dear lady
I use to work in a greenhouse at Christmas and I made wreaths like you do. I don't remember how we clamped them though.I liked doing that. It always smelled like Christmas!
